It is true that Cerf and Kahn weren’t boomers. And while their work is the foundation, that is like claiming the wheel is the foundation for the automobile, therefore it was invented before it was.

For the Internet as we know it to work, a bunch of boomers were involved. I’ll name Cailliau, Berners-Lee, and Mockapetris. There are many others.

My only purpose was not to show "boomers" made the computer, but that they laid some of the foundations for today's tech. Each generation builds upon what the previous generation created. If Atanasoff, Gates and Jobs plus a host of others did not create what they did, then none of today's tech would exist.

So, get off the high and mighty we are the greatest and realize the greatness you claim is dependent on those who proceeded you.


A small correction on the Berry-Atanasoff invention. In reality, Atanasoff was first. Berry attempted to claim exclusive rights, but was proven wrong in court.

And no, Atanasoff and Berry both worked on the same machine, making it hard to say one of them was "first."
