    Original post: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what’s-wrong-with-my-suspension.753202/#post-26835458

So I posted a few weeks back about my suspension and how to improve ride quality. Little did I know that my crazy expensive lift package I received from the dealer was actually just a spacer kit they had installed and marked up ridiculously.

I ended up emailing the dealership GM and calling out their exploitation of customers with false advertising and threatening to contact their corporate offices. Today I got a call from them and they gave me the number of the company that did the install stating that they would make it right.

The initial invoice for the package said “3inch performance suspension” which it clearly was not. After some back and forth with the install company (DSI) they said that they would install something equivalent to what that meant. We decided on bilstein 6112/5160 front and back. They would cover the price of parts and labor themselves. I opted for upgraded UCA and the icon rtx leaf pack which they would install for free and I would pay for the parts out of pocket.

Overall I think this was a good win as far as getting the spacers taken out and putting in a real suspension lift. I guess I just wanted to update from the last post and point out my mistakes so no one else makes them.

Since your upgrading your uca's check out the Icon Delta Joint. Also, have them install the ecgs clamshell bushing.

Yes they are installing those icon uca. Haven’t heard of those bushings, what are they for and are they needed?

Great news, you will enjoy that new setup much more! Good on your dealer for making the situation right, that’s pretty impressive and I’d say above and beyond these days!

The front differential needle bearing on the driver side goes bad after lifting. The ECGS bushing takes care of the problem. Lots of information on this site about it.

Oh ok so I would just need one for the drivers side? Passenger side is ok?

From what i understand it's only a design flaw on the driver side... i believe the passenger side uses a ball bearing.

It’s not clear that everyone has an issue with the diff needle bearing, but many have reported the issue. I personally haven’t had a problem after 10k miles.

Nope. Spacer lifts over 1 inch tend to mess with Toyota IFS geometry

At least you got better parts, unfortunately you still over paid. But as long as your happy with the new set up that’s all that matters. Asking never hurts.

Yeah I realize that I definitely over paid but live and learn I guess. This was my first car purchase as a 22 year old.

Sounds to me like your bounce back was pretty darn good. Not perfect but then again, no one is.

    Nicely done

At least they have a chance to make it right. This wasn't really on them to begin with, it was the dealer pawning it off on them. Yea, the rubber part on the top of the strut came off, but that's just the spacers being spacers lol... nothing abnormal there when you put a shitty spacer puck on top of a strut.

Can't wait to see the new setup OP has. Actually pretty surprised on this outcome. This is rare.
