Depends on the type of camping, tbh. You can totally get good bang for the buck stuff with car camp .. not so much for the lightweight stuff. There you're trading out price for weight..

I do have a 20 year old kelty 3 season I'm still running though... 'Lasts forever' == 'buy once, cry once' after all.

Tough to beat the Coleman stoves. I've got three of the two burners; I bought my first one in the eighties when i was in college then later I inherited two that were my grandfather's including one that's late '50s or early '60s and the other is early 1970s. I have a single burner Peak 1 from the eighties and an older green single burner that was also my grandfather's. They just keep going and going..... Get a set of the legs/stand for them; you can find them on ebay since I think Coleman has wussed out on supporting the Coleman fuel stoves. Add a propane adapter and you have a very versatile setup.

To add to your list though- Colman lanterns. Yep, I've got four of them too. A dual mantle, a single mantle Peak 1 and then my grandfather's dual mantle and an older single mantle. I've even got a handful of the good old radioactive mantles.

Bonus points- Mora knives. They're cheap enough to stash them everywhere. I've got one in my driver's door pocket and one clipped in the back. I've got a couple more but those are the ones in the truck.

100% agree with @Montana_Actual, Jet Boil w/ French press attachment. My runner up...

My Petzl Actik refuses to die and continues to outshine newer, more expensive Black Diamond headlamps. Love my Petzl and for 49.95 I don't think there is better bang for the buck. Picked mine up in REI when I was living in Virginia.

i have a 20 something-year-old Coleman -20 sleeping bag. got it at Walmart for $40 or something. not the smallest thing in the world but its never left me with cold toes at 2am! would cost me $400 or more to replace it today. NEVER getting rid of it even though I'm not a tent camper anymore

Can't beat a good flashlight/lantern either - I have an obsession and have collected quite a few over the years my KC cube lantern thingy is one of my favorites. and it doubles as a power bank. $0 cost to me thanks to TW secret santa but $40 is a great price. i think i've charged the thing maybe 6 times in 3 years - it lasts FOREVER!
