My wife was hit and spun out last weekend by the truck who made the decision to hit her vs rear ending vehicle in front who had stopped. Their insurance has claimed full responsibility. We’re still waiting on the adjuster weather it will be totaled. Possible drive train damage. She is physically ok. Looking at RAV4 or similar suv.
Researching used replacement vehicles, what are the thoughts on a salvage/reconstruction title? Not a great time to buy used but?
And insurance issues with salvage title other than devaluation?

This honestly makes me want to buy a Ram; I'd go with a RAV4 or a Corolla Cross. Is the Civic paid off, or do you still owe money on it?

Did the airbags go off in the Civic? Unless there is significant damage that we can't see, I'd say the car will not be totaled...

Depending on miles of vehicle I doubt totaled.

It was crazy. She spun multiple times between cars and never hit anything. No airbag deployment. Witness saw her hit her head on windshield corner post. Something is wrong with the steering as she couldn’t drive afterwards. Insurance said will total if drivetrain damaged. Waiting for adjuster. 75 k mileage.

Back in 2005, I witness an accident involving a then fairly new Civic; The other car impacted the Civic where the transmission was located and cracked the transmission open. All of the fluid leaked out. Is this the type of drivetrain damage the insurance company was referring to? Was the A/C condenser or anything under the hood damaged?

I never got a close inspection. From what I could see there was no fluid loss and engine still ran.

My wife was on her way to pick up our grandson from a hiking trip when the accident happened. I got to the scene to check on her and left for grandson. The LEO’s called for the tow and it went to the yard. Insurance then had it towed to their facility for inspection.

    Glad she’s ok.

Steering probably ok. Maybe they write strut and LCA. Possibly knuckle and tie rod. Then bumper and brackets, light, fender and liner, door, uniside above door and 1/4. Mileage is low so should fix depending on ACV and salvage value.

6112's/5160's with Deaver stage 3, GFC camper, Evo 10S and home-built bed drawers. Solar w/100 Ah battery.
Also check Autotrader for replacement vehicle costs. They may be higher than KBB and then you can try to get that value for the vehicle. I was able to do that many years ago. And sincerely hope your wife is OK.
    Good luck

Well Ins. Co. has totaled the Civic. We haven't seen final paperwork as to exact damage but my wife is ready to move on. Looks like $17.5K to find a used suv.
