    No money, all went to truck...
    you have the same problem with what you did plus you added an area where water can collect.

    I'd be worried about that slight crack/tear on the left (as in pic). That's just film that's painted. Water can still seep in there.

    If it doesn’t work I’ll just remove the tape and reapply it over the entire area.

    like I said, it shouldn’t be an issue since the holes are fully sealed underneath the tape.

    I noticed that as well, close up it’s actually just a build up of paint where they didn’t do a smooth application.

    I think your sealing approach will work just fine OP. And why wait for rain, grab a hose and wet her down!

    I had asked a question a while ago and I don't think people knew the answer then. But what's the actual layout/structure of that area that is actually let's water in? I would have assumed the bolt holes don't go directly into the cab but would have the ends of the threads capped off?

    So I’m not 100% sure but I can tell you that when I have had water come into the cab, it has come in through the A pillar at the seam between the side curtain airbag and where the roof fabric starts; and also through the B pillar where the seatbelt is mounted.

    This was the factory seal on my 2nd Gen;
    [IMG]

    When I took the rack off and traded it in I plugged the holes with silicone, then electrical taped over top like the factory, then new trim pieces. Chatted with the new owner two years later and it was still fine.

    That’s great to hear. Hopefully it will work just as well for my 3rd Gen.

    Totaled..... The gorilla tape looks like it's not even adhered on all four sides.

    You would be correct sir. There was some glue from the factory tape that wouldn’t come off so it wasn’t a completely smooth surface.

    I have since sealed those edges of the tape with silicon.

    Good question. I do a lot of highway driving (hence the user name) and the wind noise was just too much for me. It’s an awesome product, it just want the best fit for my use.

    I found that with BillieBars I could carry the things I needed the roof rack for and still maintain full access to my bed. It also doesn’t affect my MPGs at all. I also have the Bakflip MX4 bed cover.

    This is my current set up:
