Hello. I recently purchased my first truck. 2006 single cab Tacoma. 75k miles, just went through inspection and it’s exactly what was sold to me. No issues. I’m happy in that regard. Main reason for buying was to have a reliable A-B with some practicality while I go back to school since my previous car was totaled.

While I’m happy with it, I wouldn’t say I love it. In short it looks like a pool guys truck. I want to mod it and use it to learn about this stuff and just make it look cooler but the problem I’m facing is that I have no clue where to start. From what I’ve read today I’m limited on wheels with it being 5 lug.

Do I have to lift it? Im indifferent to that and will if it’s necessary for bigger wheels.

can anyone suggest wheels and tires to me?

Try the 5 lug forum. There are even other Toyota wheels that will fit, such as certain Highlander and RAV4 models.

I went to a full set of 'spare' wheels and added trim rings, just for an old school look. Also went from the OE 215 75 15 to 235 75 15 tires, which make a big difference in ride, looks and give a real 1" lift at the axle line. No cutting or anything needed.

Some will say mine still looks like a pool truck. Don't care. It does exactly what *I* need a truck to do. And sometimes not drawing attention is a good thing.

I hear you about not drawing attention. I don’t wanna go all out or do anything over the top, it is just an A-B for me. But I DO want to do a couple of things for the hell of it. It already does what I need it to so I can’t complain.

and man I looked through 5 lug I’m such a noob here I feel like I’m reading another language with this car/truck stuff

Look at some google pics of your truck, year, and model. When you see something you like post it. And someone here will fill you in on how to go about getting those mods.

    That truck is lifted.

Personally I'd avoid that, given your planned use.
