Idk why but I see all the trd offroads with the predator steps. It’s redundant and ruins the idea of offroading with the lowered clearance, but they look good and toyota dealers get an additional $650 from em.

Here’s a different perspective. There is a point to them for some of us family guys.

If you have kids, say under 10 you may want to give those steps a fair try. I opted to keep mine to avoid being asked to lift the kidlets in and out all the time. Also saves your sill plates a bit cause without the steps kids tends to “slide out”.
They use them everytime they get in and out.
    Just speaking from experience.

    I will add I don’t do serious wheel’n however

I put a $500 deposit down on a 2022 TRD Sport, sometime after Christmas, but before New Year’s Day. I can’t recall the exact date. I’m going to say about the 29th of December. The truck arrived at the dealership on January 13th and I picked it up the following day.

The story I was told by the salesperson was that the truck had already been manufactured and had been allocated to the dealership. I was told it was on a truck, headed to Houston, Texas, to some sort of a facility that inspects the vehicles, tints the windows, installs running boards, etc. After all that was completed, it would be shipped to the dealership, which is about 45 minutes North of Houston. Now whether that’s the truth or not, I can’t tell you. That’s just what they told me.

I will say I was very happy to have a new truck, in about 2 weeks.

Definitely a point to factor! Especially if you get sliders without top filler plates that could just be dangerous for a child. (Not sarcasm) if they slip or anything… and it being a truck is higher up. Nice thought to factor in.

I personally have a few more years before children :fingerscrossed:

My door sills still look new since i have steps. Ive only stepped on the sill maybe once?

Could always get the sill plate protectors. They aren't all that expensive. TacomaLifstyle carries them, Toyota has them...

I have a set, just waiting for warm weather to install...

They came on mine. I still however appreciate the cleanliness inside and overall look of my vehicle. And the one time I stepped on my door sill protector, it did scuff it. So in theory it did its job. Just very visible scuff. Idk why but it does bug me when I see it. No big deal its better on that than my actual vehicle.

Say no more. I completely understand..

Although, I kind of wonder how difficult they would be to replace? Say if they become really trashed.. it's a thought, and something I can see myself doing... lol

I wonder if it would be like removing the bed side sticker? Heat up and then peel off? Or do people just apply new ones directly over?

Using a heat gun seems rather like a poor choice since there is weather stripping to possibly melt or deform?

Using a razor blade would scratch the paint off.

My conclusion is that Toyota probably sells a special tool for an outrageous price (just a joke).

I doubt a heat gun would harm the weather stripping.

Don't put it past Toyota to have a special tool for this..
