Thought the leak was due to the 3rd brake light but Toyota now says the leak is from an after market roof rack. They did an intrusion test to rule out the new 3rd brake light being the source then pulled back the head liner and claim it is from the roof rack. Now it looks like I am stuck paying for the intrusion test which they initiated and replacement of the moldy back seats. Haven't received the bill yet but fear it will be sizeable. Thinking of asking the company that installed the roof rack to help with the bill. The TAS discovered the rack leak.

Probably didn’t use rtv/silicone in the holes during installation. Easy fix, unbolt everything and run a dab down the holes, then reapply bolts.

They said that when rack installed, someone drilled too far into roof causing leakage into the "curtain airbag" plus other leaks. Is this fixable or will the leak keep reoccuring when silicone wears down? Should we just have roof rack removed and somehow restore roof to normal? I don't want to have to live in fear of reoccuring leaks. Best solution?

No money, all went to truck...
    Who installed the roof rack?

Did they drill or use factory holes?

Neighbor did do it yourself job using factory holes. Because it was sloppy, I had it redone by professional shop. I fear someone overdrilled the factory holes. Toyota service shop says holes may need body work. Leaks up front near passender side and back seat is damaged.
