Has anyone experimented with this? Obvs you would have to replace the other seat. Could you use the same seat as the other side?

To preserve the 4 passenger capability while being able to mount stuff in the center like fridges, batteries, etc

Okay...I think I follow....maybe. You mean removing the 60 section of the 60/40 seat and adding another 40 section to the other side?

Yes exactly. Or some other solution to free up the center space. I just feel like its a pretty unused area for those of us without kids.

Yeah I suppose you could get a second 40 section from a scrap yard and get it to fit somehow. It would take some fab work though since the holes for the lower seat bottom bracket won't line up and the upper part that attaches the seat back would have to be relocated. Sounds like a lot of work for a minimal amount of space.

You mention not having kids How often do you have more than one passenger in the rear? You could just remove the 60 or 40 portion and use that space. Lots of people have done that. Or do a complete rear seat delete. There are literally prefab kits for such things

Seems like the most logical solution, essentially since you could always return the truck to a resalable condition since life changes.

Bucket seats is what you're really after I think............

No doubt it can be done, but with all the gee-wiz wiring and airbags included in the seats now it will need to be a person with understanding and skills.

Not to mention potential damage to the resale value of the truck. You'll auto-magically put yourself in a niche market, assuming you didn't restore it to stock prior to sale.

I’d love to put another set of matching TRD buckets in my back seat and make a full length console that met up with the front console some how… @MESO we need a rear console for Christmas 2022!! Lol

    My 2/3 rear seat delete.

Can’t just move the seats around because the seat and seat belt bolt holes don’t match up.

My 1/3 rear seat delete. In the summer I put a Dometic CFX35 there. Works well for me. Still leaves enough space for 2 people in the back for short trips.20210430_183224.jpg

I have been interested in doing the same. I have to have room for two kids in the back seat but want to recover the completely useless space between them. The kids are too big to do the 40% delete and be at all comfortable.

Nothing in the rear seats. Couple bolts, that's it. No airbag or SOS's in the rear.

I've taken out the rear 60 seat, to build a sleeping platform.

that rear seat comes out easy.

@BlackTruck15 you COULD rig up another 40 seat into the same spot, but it might not work that well. You have latches and bolt holes, you would have to drill more bolt holes, have backing threads (likely weld a nut in place). And fill the unused holes (this is easy, just put a bolt in there, that's what I did with my hardware when I have my sleeping platform in, bolts just go back in the holes, you can see it in the second picture above, bottom right that white patch is a seat mount or seatbelt mount something, removed it and put the bolt back in). In theory it could be done, but it's not a 5 minute project you can get on Amazon.
