But the general way things go for me when I try to save a dime is I end up tripping over a dollar and several hours of head scratching

Yeah it is nice now to be able to remote tune, makes things a lot easier. MegaSquirt is one of my current faves tuner studio just makes a lot of sense.

 

I need to see if this would support my odd fire Buick V6 in my Jeep. The Q-Jet that’s on there now does the job, but it’s cranky.

 

You'd be surprised, I bet it has it as one of the preset profiles. But they make smaller ones too. That V6 mustve had the 600 Q-Jet

It isn’t original as far as I know, but yeah, it’s the little guy. Even at that, the secondaries barely open at all under WOT. It’s pretty pointless.

I love the V6 in the pre-AMC CJ-5, though. Always harbored thoughts of throwing a Chevy 4.3 in there with a TH350 behind it to get rid of the box of disappointment that is the T-14 3-speed manual. God, I hate that thing.
