On another note, y’all, I have this issue. See pics.
    Driver side:
    BC094492-EE07-47AE-8901-E6D12D7D7246.jpg
    Passenger side:
    9A4F7F30-CBF8-474A-8E3C-36E296B38BFC.jpg

This seem right? Or do I need to replace the lower ball joint on the driver side?

On a random note, I had some bad grinding sounds when slowing down. I THINK it’s the shield behind the rotor, so I bent it out of the way. Hopefully that’s it, but if anyone else got any ideas, let me know.

Those do not look good at all. If you are going to do one, I would do both. How are your brake pads or rotors?

Grinding while braking usually means metal to metal contact, I'd check out pad level. Backing plates grind constantly if they're hitting the rotor. The drivers side has a torn boot, so you can either try to get a reboot kit and hope the grease in it isn't too compromised and you can just clean it well, grease it, and reboot it, or you'll need new LBJs. You can also just get loaded control arms and just swap the control arm out

Drew, @tacobell007 , think your buddy could turn my plate bumper into a hybrid? It all bolts together so I was thinking remove the sides and have new sides made with tube,, I could give him the sides for a while or forever to have a template.

I'll send you a few pics after the sun comes up.

That is a phenomenal idea. It would look cool as hell and also be a "one off" custom bumper that no one else has.

    Figures, lol.
Pads and rotors are fine. Lots of meat left.
It doesn’t grind when braking. But more so when slowing down and facing slightly downhill. The bottom of the backing plate was very close to the rotor, so I pulled it back, hopefully that does it.

Well, time for some new LBJ, or just go ham and get a beefed up LCA.
Edit: scratch that, no LCA, lol.

Well… Toyota don’t sell just the ball joint. Anyone got recommendations?

On a relative scale they're not too bad. If your LCAs are toasted (like mine, I've dragged them on some rocks....oops) it's not that much more and a lot less effort.

True, I haven't got anything but road miles on the truck so far, so maybe at a later date, but for now, new LBJ should suffice.

Does Toyota still use the bolt-in-bolt design for the LCA? If so, you might have to brace for corrosion and having to cut out the LCA's where as the ball joint could just be pressed out.

All the more reason to pop it now when the rust hasn't claimed it yet and you can rescue it before that happens :D

I have run the proforged LCA Ball joints and the Moog internal boot ball joints. I had the proforged boots pop off on one side prematurely and cause it to fail. No idea how that happened, but the moogs seem to be holding up fine now although they only have 1k on them. Pressing them in/out is a bitch, I machined a lip off one side of the ball joint so I could get a flat surface to press them out.
