New member sorry if there is a thread somewhere on this but didnt see anything in the search.

I need a hefty way of securing my mountain bikes to my truck bed, i got a heavy duty chain from ABUS, now i need a D-ring or something to lock it to. Anyone have any suggestions

Right now im looking at ways to mount a ABUS Granit WBA 100 floor anchor to my 2019 tacoma bed. The anchor has 3 bolt holes for mounting, typically used on concrete floors. I was thinking of removing one of the threaded bed bolts and then maybe drilling the other two holes, but worried about road salt and grime corroding as i live in the rust belt.

Thanks for any suggestions, and if anyone else has done this, post some pictures. thank you

You could probably drill a hole anywhere in the sides of the bed provided you get some big washers for the bolt on the other side. If this is for theft protection I wouldn't be too worried about damaging the bed. If you plan to use it as a structural tie down I'd just replace the D-Rings on the truck already with something bigger and maybe use a security bolt. Is there a reason the D rings that come with the truck aren't good enough?

this mount wouldn't be used for tie down, strictly theft deterrent. The Tacoma d-rings are thin, someone could easily snip those. I understand if someone wants it they can get it no matter what deterrent you have, just trying to make it slightly more difficult. Good idea of the security bolts, i will look into that. thank you

If you want more ideas, spend some time browsing the Lockpicking Lawyer's channel on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/lockpickinglawyer

When I was looking for the best way to prevent trailer theft I found his channel and it helped me become pretty knowledgeable about how to select a good security system and manage my expectations given a scenario. Unfortunately most products on the market just keep honest people, honest.

Haha I actually got some ideas from that channel. He’s good. Like when he explodes locks with a ramset
