Yep. I flipped my boot inside out and used some leather thread through the top loop of the boot then zip tie for good measure. Then threaded the adapter onto the shift rod before flipping the boot right side out. Then just work it through the console and snap into place.

I ended up making a few minor adjustments with it in place to get my shift knob to be tight in the right orientation. Once everything is tight you should be able to straighten the boot still

Keeps the shift boot tight to an aftermarket shift knob. That you don't get that ugly gap between the shifter and the boot you see with most aftermarket knobs

Well, put a 460 gram shift knob on. It certainly makes shifting feel smoother.

I forgot to change the address when I ordered the shift boot retainer though, so it is now thousnds of miles away with my wife.

If they can simulate having to tuck it in gently into 1st on a slow roll....:spending:

Otherwise I'll stick with my retarded red headed stepchild 04B10 original....

I saw that, and I think if they can pull off a realistic simulation of driving a manual, I'd still like it.

I was actually thinking about the whole EV vs manual transmission thing a few days prior to seeing that and had decided that even a simulated manual would be fun if done properly.
My truck transmission could be a simulation right now and I wouldn't know; I don't physically witness the gears changing or the clutch disengaging and engaging.
They could program 5-6 simulated gears, calculate the simulated engine rpm based on speed and which "gear" it's in, and overlay an artificial torque output curve onto the simulated engine rpm range.
Since it's all in the programming, there could be a manual mode and automatic mode in case you want to let someone else drive for some reason.

As much as I enjoy manuals (every vehicle I have owned has been a manual so far), a simulated one is like masturbating in a whore house and defeats the purpose.
