I am mulling over selling my crazy well taken care of 2018 SR DCSB 4x4 convivence package Tacoma with 66xxx miles. The idea being to replace it with the same spec new 2022 truck. Preferably I can find a new SR Tacoma 4x4 DCSB in the same color as mine so I can reuse my camper shell. I suspect the math will work where I can get enough for my current truck to get a new truck at a low payment. My payoff is around $8,700 and I am a 800+ fico. My current payment is $310 on a six year.

But I have some unknowns that I am wanting some input on. Carvana is offering $25,222 on my truck. Last week I went to a Mazda dealership to possibly trade my truck to get my wife a car. They wanted to give me $23,000 as trade in for my Tacoma which I said ummm NO.

What price over or above relative to MSRP am I likely to be able to get a Tacoma SR or maybe an SR5 for?

When I check on line for what used 2018 SR 4x4 Tacomas are being listed at I am seeing prices in the low to mid 30s.

Is it reasonable to try to sell the my truck on line on Facebook Marketplace, Craigs List, or even on this forum? I have the $8700 pay off and it is likely a buyer will need to take out a loan. How is this done in a private sale? In the past I sold a car for $1500 and a motorcycle for $5000 on Craigs List but that was all for cash and they sold quick. This involves a payoff and probably the buyer getting a loan.

The big question is if I try to private sell my truck what should I sell it for? I live in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas.

Starting just after I bought it new I fluid filmed then switched to cosmoline. I coated the frame, inner rocker panels, inner lower doors, tailgate, and fenders. Redo it before every winter. Changed axel grease front and back at 30K and 60K. Grease the front drives shaft ujoints every oil change after the dealer free service ended. I installed the really good Toyota led fogs and did the Subaru Kicker tweeter mod. My intent was to keep this truck for many years but I ended up putting a lot of highway miles on it when my mom took ill/cancer/death.

I wouldn’t pay a dime over msrp, you’ll be fine if you look. Prepare to wait currently though if your looking for a specific color

The most I would pay for a 2018 SR DBCSB would be $19,000.
