So after I installed my HID's I've lost functionality of my auto high beams. I'm assuming it's because the sensor is picking up the increased brightness and perceiving it as oncoming headlights. I'm ok with them not working so my question is: can I unplug the switch and tape up the wires so I can free up an additional spot for auxiliary switches? My assumption is that I can do that without any issue but just want a confirmation.

    Thanks all!

If having the switch unplugged causes any weird issues, I don’t see why you cant just leave it connected behind the panel.

The Auto High Beams circuit will not suffer from a missing switch. If you leave it connected behind the panel, secure it so it doesn't flop around and weaken the wires or activate the switch.
