Problem: I have 2020 Tacoma Off Rod, Manual, extend cab 4x4.

I am adding ARB front bumper when it shows up (back ordered). Why? It saved my life on my old Tacoma when I was run off the road by logging truck.

I am putting a winch on when I install bumper.

I want to lift truck because I am having issues deactivated logging rads (cross ditching ). Options I am considering are:

    1)Toyota TRD OEM lift Kit.
BUT:Toyota cannot tell me if it will handle weight of bumper and winch. The dealer head service guy ( who has a big American truck bias he admits, as he comes from working at a Dodge dealership for years) was not enthusiastic about the Toyota kit actually meeting my needs.

    or

2)ToyTech Boss 2.5 Front Aluma Coilovers 2-3" lift
" " Front Diff Drop Kit
    " " Boss 2.5 Aluma Series w Rear Shocks
    " " Add a Leaf with Shims

Increase tires to BF Goodrich All Terrains LT285/70R17

I pull a utility trailer for my quad and may want option of towing light travel trailer.

I don't commute (retired) but do drive long distances on occasion.. I travel back roads, old logging roads, washed out roads to get to hunting/camping/fishing. I don't "off road" for "fun".

Option #2 is going to cost me 2x #1. I plan to keep truck a long time.

After market kit will be installed by a 1st rate shop that specializes in suspension work. The owner and head tech drive Tacomas. My old truck was lifted by them and had no issues.

    Thanks for any advice!

The Toytec Aluma/AAL lift will completely blow the TRD (w/ rear block) out of the water as far as performance. I have the Alumas on my 3rd gen 4runner and love them. The other option is to get the same exact thing as the TRD lift and buy some Bilstein 5100s and a 1” block (which is what the TRD lift is - just rebranded with TRD stickers on the shocks), but pay less than half as much and you can have your shop install it. Or get 5100s and a progressive AAL instead of a block and have better payload capacity.

Go with the Toytec, mine goes in next week. To me the Toyota um lift is nothing compared to real lifts.

No need for a diff drop, and if you are a 4x4 make sure you do the ECGS Bushing, and if you are using stock wheels with the 285's get ready to do some trimming and a cab mount chop.

To fill in further details of my planned upgrade:

Toytec Lifts U-Bolt Flip Kit with DuraBumps Toytec Boss 2.5Aluma series 2"-3" Lift
    SPC Toyota Upper Control Arms
Wheel Spacers Hubcentric 1.25" to allow mounting larger tire on factory rims

Shop manager said no alteration of wheel well etc would be needed with this set up.You sure diff drop not needed AND trimming/chop etc. needed?

    Tires: BF Goodrich ALL-Terrain T/A KO2 121R RWL E LT285/70R17.

Big advantage for you on the Toytec is that they are coil overs. Once you add the weight of a winch and bumper you can adjust them to exactly how much lift you want. No such option on the Toyota TRD setup.

DONE!!!! 3" lift, new tires, ARB bumper, 10,000lb Warn winch, new suspension. Forward radar works perfectly. New ARB bumper much nicer than prior model .Cool feature, license plate flips up to reveal Winch. ( Tip, 12,000 lb Warn Evo winch won't fit this bumper.)Now to get used to driving a truck and not a big car:benchpress:

    Nothing major yet.
Still bummed that Toyota didn’t bring manual access cab off roads to the US. I’d love to get one.

I got it because I know first hand it works. Where I live you don't worry about hitting a deer but about hitting a moose or an elk/ Been there , done that, and because of my ARB bumper on my totalled 2nd Gen Tacoma I'm still here:thumbsup:

#2 in my opening post. Final bill for the set up was mind boggling, but when I set my last truck up in similar package i did it in steps, not one fell swoop.Pretty skookum setup though.Looking forward to after the snow goes to get up in the mountains and try it out.

Me too, I took a sport AC instead so that I could have the manual.
