Absolutely love it. Nicest vehicle I've ever owned. Makes me smile when I look out over the fake hood Skewp. The old tech feel of the Tacoma is really what sold me. Could do with rear disc's, but whatever. I'm starting to see the gripes about the 6AT, might just be me as I've never driven a 6 speed auto for any reasonable amount of time.

As a side note, I really enjoy playing the numbers game with the on board computer. I coasted down a large long hill today and got the thing to read this. It's a fun little game... completely pointless I'll admit.

Honestly man, after I picked up mine back in October, everyday I look at it and drive around I cant believe I own such a nice vehicle. Girlfriend gets jealous cause I talk about it so much

Ive read that improving the gearing for the truck also helps improve MPG’s along with the overall performance and experience of the drice. Nitro gears has been thrown around a bunch

Totally agree. Every morning i start it, I need to remind myself it's mine. The fuel graphs on the home page are a cool little feature. I also get a massive kick out of the MID with its graphic display of the Tacoma upon start up.

Last i knew the actual math doesn't lie. This truck runs great. I heard similar from others where i live, and much worse. These trucks for whatever reason don't all perform the same. Seems because their a toyota many don't want to believe it.

That about sums up the way i drive, and get the same results as some where i live have. Some can be their own worst enemy as far as fuel economy thinking they drive a high performance sports car that should be all things when its really a truck they have.

    Oh look, another mod....
I filled up my tank on Saturday (didn't drive it at all on Sunday), this is the MPG's that I got when commuting to work today. It's also what I usually get it; today wasn't a special day.

**Also, 95% of my driving is highway @ 65mph. It also helps that I'm a "flat lander" as another member put it. Texas doesn't have that many hills.

I have owned it (almost) one year now. In a few more day's she'll be officially 1yr old! I have put just under 15k miles on her and I have always got 400 + miles out of each tank. The last two tanks were 417 miles. There were two exceptions:

    1) I was working from due to Covid for 3 weeks, so there was a lot of city driving. Short trips & Stop-n-Go traffic at low speeds. I got around 350-360 out of that tank.
    2) I took a long road trip. I set the cruise at 65mph and drove on a straight-flat road for a few hundred miles. I got almost 490 out of that tank.

Thanks for the info guys. I sent my dealer an email to see if they can take a look over the truck. Not sure if that will do any good or not, but since the vehicle in under warranty might as well try

I don't think there's anything wrong with your truck, fuel mileage just varies depending on speed, stoplights, driving style, weather, etc. In the summer it will be better than it is now.
My average over 1.5 years and 19k miles is 17.5 mpg (every fill-up recorded with Fuelly).
My daily commute is mostly 45mph but lots of stop lights. If I hit all greens in good weather I can get around 20mpg for the trip. Cold weather and lots of red lights I can be as low as 14mpg for the trip.
When I get on the interstate and go 75mph into a headwind (no matter which way I go I'm always driving into a headwind in Nebraska) I get 16 mpg. If I take a 2 lane highway and to 60mph I can get 20+mpg for a trip.

I'm getting about 15-16 per gallon with 265/75R16 all terrains and the fuel pump recall replacement. Combined, city, hwy, and mountain driving.

I don't think anything is going to be found. These trucks vary depending on the trim, where you drive, speeds, and climate.

You were right. Dealer has no advice or interest in looking really. Makes sense though the more I chat with you folk about the truck and driving habits

Mine has 265/75R16, load range E tires, 5w30 engine oil and a camper shell. I checked the indicated mileage shortly after I got it and found it to be pretty accurate. I record all fill-ups and indicated mileage. Need to look at that again. The truck shows 22+ mpg during the winter, driving in the Arizona mountains, with very few city miles. I never idle it to warm it up. Always drive it slowly until it is warm.

The previous truck was a 4 banger, '09, 4wd, stick shift, access cab that got a consistent 25.1 mpg. Driving habits have a lot to do with gas mileage.

    @azreb
Thanks for the info. I do a lot more city than highway driving as well. Also probably a large contributing factor to Mpg

    Oh look, another mod....

City driving in my Taco puts a MAJOR dent in my overall MPG's. If I drive to work (see my earlier post & screen shot), I can easily achieve 21MPG or higher. If I drive to the local grocery store from my home (a 3 mile round trip), I get 11.8 MPG.

When you toss in short trips like that, and add them to my work commute it brings down my overall average to about..19.6/19.8 for the entire tank. Driving in the city, driving uphill, towing, and driving faster than 65MPH will make your MPG's drop very fast.
