In my experience, mods add virtually no value to your average vehicle. It could be my location, but people buy these trucks for reliability. You would likely come out ahead putting oem parts back on if you have them and parting it out to other members here, instead of selling it as is. just a suggestion, nice truck though!

I would just look at various comparable others out there and price it accordingly. I’m guessing you could ask $45K and negotiate down from there.

Don’t forget, the prices you see online as comparisons are the “asking” price. You won’t see the actual sold price.

    I guess I’d ask $45k and take $42k.

I’m not sure if your topper helps or hurts your sale. You might want to consider removing it and selling it separately (or offer it as a negotiation element for your truck sale).

If you take some of that stuff off, the value will go up. I would start with that ugly top and some of that tint. The other things like the over priced calipers and rotors would be better removed and resold separately. No way anyone pays extra for that. The TRD air filter is not going to add anything to the value.

On a honest side note, I personally would not buy a modded vehicle for my daily driver. However, there is a butt for every seat

I am going to say what some have already said, the mods add nothing, it may even take away from the value. I personally would look pass those mods. Seeing what others have listed in the market and in my area where there hasn't been a market increase add-on, $35-38K

Friend of mine sold his Tacoma back to the dealer he bought it from last week. It was a 2020 4x4 SR5 double cab short bed. 11,600 miles, basic plain jane model. They gave him a little over $38K for it, exactly what he paid for it 2 years ago.

They have it listed on their website for $45K and change.

I would think an OR would bring more that than with the miles you have

They don't have pictures of it yet but they'll be there soon...

    He spoke reality.

I just got a 2021 Used Tacoma OR with 3K miles. It is bone stock. I saw many many Tacomas modded similarly to yours on the lots. I passed on every single one.
There was a 2021 TRD Pro on the lot with 17K miles. It looked good until you got up close. He had probably close to 800 lbs of steel bolted on there. It was tasteful but not for a daily driver. He also drilled holes in the dash for his phone mount.

I actually paid more for the stock Off Road than I could have got the PRO for!

Stock trucks rule in the used vehicle market.

I know sometimes it hurts when someone tells you that your baby is ugly, but no need to fill his head with false hopes. You have to accept reality if you want to get paid. Taking that top off alone will increase the value. If he trades it in the first thing the dealer will do is to rip it off and offer it up to a lot monkey to take home and put it on craigslist for $500. No need for anyone to give money away. He can sell it himself and pocket the cash to buy some electrons for his new ride.

I'm always shocked by people that drill into their dash. Interior mods kill resale value probably more than exterior.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around what prompted the OP to upgrade to expensive aftermarket brakes?

What a dealer gives anyone for trade-in value means NOTHING without knowing the sales price on the vehicle being purchased. As an example, the dealer could give you $20,000 over market but what does that matter if he’s also marking up the vehicle you are purchasing by $20,000 OR MORE. Don’t be fooled by that dealership trickery!

He didn't trade it in, he sold it to them and walked away to his other truck.

    Yeah.
Eh, the mods to OP's truck are minor and didn't require hacking things up, but not being stock can be an issue for some buyers, especially if they eventually need to purchase replacement parts. Basically a wash there, not adding any value and not detracting much.

I'd sell the cap separately, or list prices with and without the cap. Assuming OP is in CA based on the fuel price complaint. I'd say somewhere around $40K for the truck without the cap. Probably get another $2500 for the cap.

If the op sells the truck himself, he's only going to get what someone is willing to pay for it...he needs to find that someone. A dealer will only give him what that particular model is worth. Any mods mean nothing.

The most I would want to pay is $35,000 Anything more than that I would go to a Toyota dealership and buy new.

Something to be said for that- I paid $41K for my OR.
