I didn't used to have that problem when I drove my superduty daily!! Something about that big ass grill made them notice it in their rear view mirror!!! Yes, they do have mirrors and those little sticks on their steering columns that telegraph their TURN!! Another Pet Peeeeveee.. Sorry venting today..

Good morning my old and wise friends in the TW50+.

While some of you are still very young at heart, and I should probably ask this on a specific thread somewhere, I'd rather get this age groups thoughts on my question..

My 2012 Double Cab has been stock height since I got it, saggy flat rear springs since I've had it, just my son's equipment trailer alone makes it drag ass and I hate that. I also don't like the factory nose down stature and would like to have slightly wider tires, on the front that will cause rub if I don't level the truck. Wife is vertically deficient, so too high would be a problem for her to get in and out also. I don't need a high end rock climber or mud bogger, extra travel shocks and all that. I use it primarily about the property, get critter food, and occasional romp on a swamp trail, cause that's all we have here in my area of Florida. I also am a cheap SOB and don't don't want to sink a $2K on a solution..

Looking at solutions they vary in cost and mfg. Do any of you have a leveling kit you like and or have that suits this set up I described. I spoke to Dan and discussed his 2013... I need more input for Gen 2.5s from this crowds perspective, experience and skill level..

Ooooooo, a truck question!

I am not a fan of spacers, but if your goal is to level it out, I would suggest a 1" spacer lift on the front and maybe a block in the back to even it out.

If you want to do it right, get adj shock/springs (coilovers) in the front and add a leaf in the back. Bigger tires beyond 265 will need more $$$. Trimming and wheels with backspace.

Again just level it out, no need to lift more than an inch.

Or get your wife a step ladder

Hands down, the best bang for the buck is bolting on a turd gen OR suspension into the 2nd gen rigs. I did it last year on my 2015, I found a full 'take off' suspension for $325 that had about 10K miles on it. The Bilsteins and the progressive rate front coils make for a really nice ride, the leaf springs held their arch for about 7 months, now they are flat. The original springs had the negative arch, so this is still an improvement. Looking back, I would have just did a 2 stage add-a-leaf to the original spring pack and used the Bilstein coil overs and rear shocks. It's still a massive improvement in ride quality over the worn out junk that I removed and it was cheap.

 

Reminds me of when I had my '07 Outback, it went in for the airbag recall. I was offered a brand new Outback as a loner, but asked for a Crosstrek as I was considering buying one. I figured a 2 day 'test drive' couldn't be a bad thing. I couldn't wait to give it back, I didn't need a car second guessing EVERYTHING that I wanted to do and I found that all of the interfaces distracted too much attention from me as I tried to read the small display in the cluster. The vibrating steering wheel was annoying. I used to get annoyed when the 'ice warning' buzzer would go off in my old e30 325i.. maybe I'm in training to be the next 'I'm not Grumpy' guy... I will just take an older vehicle that has basic features, a stick shift and some heated seats. ( another older Suby? lol)

 

I agree Andy, not a fan of the spacers or the aftermath of them breaking... I was thinking of getting the truck level first, then Airbags for the back when towing, the kits aren't that expensive. I don't think a 3" kit is what I want, although overall it is about 2.5 to 3 Inch in the front and whatever it takes of the back springs to eliminate the ass drag.. I do see a lot of reference to a 600Lbs spring for the front and the adjustable height Bilstein front coil overs.. On the wife issue, the factory steps suck, and I want a set of the AMP Research color matched steps to help her get in, that's going to be another bank heist for that piece, ridiculous cost on them!!

same here...I have had my truck for about a year and 3 weeks, and just discovered the AutoHiBeam button last night...WTF? It is an SR5, so it doesn't have all the automatic driving crap - one of the reasons I went with that trim - but yeah....let me do the driving.

I also did not want all of the other options where outside entities can take ove and drive my truck for me....that crap is scary in this day and age of hacking.

Just give me a good old fashioned truck and stay off of my lawn!!!

My truck is a 2017. That was last year before Toyota started including most of that stuff as standard equipment. I can drive my own vehicle, thank you. Half the kids today don't even learn to drive until their late teens or early 20s. All that self-driving equipment just makes it even easier for them to drive down the road and still not know what the hell they're doing! They need to add a feature that shocks them when they pick up their darn phones while driving in traffic!
