Of the two Shark Fin adaptors linked on the front page, is one better then the other?

They are for two different style connectors depending on which one you have in your truck

If it helps the first link posted is for a round center connector the second link posted will be for a square center connector and that would be the connector on your truck

Thanks for all the details and being the guinea pigs on this one - definitely looks like an option I'm interested in but I have a few questions even after slogging through 41 pages. I'm between this and a Dasaita or Joying unit.

    Total Cost

Should I be expecting around $1k for total cost, all in? Looks like ~$900 for the radio itself, then ~$100 for the Sergey firmware. And maybe $20 for the shark fin adapter and $70 for the camera/mirror adapter. But those would likely need done with any HU upgrade, so let's say around $1k. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something in terms of initial cost.

    XM Radio
Would the only way to get XM working on this via satellite (not streaming over cell) be to add an XM module that would require channel changing on that via the HU? Basically is there any way to integrate the XM touchpoint into the HU without using cell streaming? We normally use XM a lot in the mountains here because cell service is spotty at best.

Again, appreciate all the guinea pigging, I know that can be frustrating but having you work out the kinks pays dividends for us later adopters.

I would say your spot on price wise for your expectations however with XM Radio thats a good question. I see aftermarket modules are easy to get however your head unit needs to be XM capable to plug it into. I did not see any place to plug an XM module into this unit so unless the manufacturer has an adapter to accomplish this I think you might be out of luck other than cell streaming through an app.

Thanks Randy, appreciate the insight. That seems to mirror what I've been reading on the XM part, but sometimes it's better to ask when you're pretty certain you don't know what you don't know!

Lol I hear you there I’ve had a few of those moments with this unit myself. You could try to contact Aucarauto and see if they have any possibilities to connect an aftermarket module.

Being that it's the first of the year, check slickdeal.net for new credit card sign ups that give you cash back.
I utilized one for Capital One quicksilver promotion and ended up paying roughly 490 for the radio, and then 100 for sergey firmware.
The promotion gave me 200 back on the first 500 spent, 150 per referral (I had one referral) and then I used the xrunner50 coupon, and then also received rewards cash on the card for the purchase.
I didn't need the CC, but I certainly appreciated it to help lower the overall cost of this unit. At 849.99, I was not a buyer.

    Hope this helps

My unit decided to freak out. Currently it just has this slight glow when powered up. No amount of resets fixes it. Tried for ever throughout yesterday to bring it back by touching the upper left area to see if it was a sleep/power issue. Seems as if touch is not working at all. All the buttons on the sides work normally. I also completely unplugged it from power for an hour. Any suggestions???

And if I may add to this, Is there a port on the HU to add the SiriusXM module and is there a combo GPS/SiriusXM adaptor so the shark fin SiriusXM antenna can be utilized?

So strange. I used the email address and he responded pretty quickly last night with a couple of questions. Then I woke up to another email asking for video of it. I did that and emailed him the links to the vids I did. I imagine he’s asleep now. Hopefully I’ll hear back tonight.

Randy, you can use the XM command touch tuner in the aux port, but it will not tune through the head unit you use the command touch to tune your XM stations. It works well and the sound is good. I hunt and fish in remote locations but I am never without music, news, or comedy.
