Need help figuring out what size tire I should get. They're both essentially 34' tires if my math is right. I'm not trying to hit that 35' cause of regearing costs and etc. Some helpful thoughts or personal insights would be appreciated. This question has been racking my brain for the last week as I patiently wait for my new wheels to come in. I'm already planning for a cmc and trimming. To give yall some background, I daily my truck which I usually take highways but go offroading once a month. Thanks!

Check the tire size calculator. The 285 size comes out to a 32.8” tire.

Edit: Nvm, I’m blind. You are correct, they’re both just under a 34”. I’d personally opt for the 285/75. Might save a bit of weight and trimming.

I'm running 285 75 17 "34's" I definitely need gears especially with my trucks weight.

If you don't want to regear I wouldn't go over a 285 70 17. There's also quite a lot more trimming and pounding and stuffing to fit the "34" over the "32".

Not sure if I'm using that calculator right but it only comes to 32.8 when I put 16 as my rim size. But when I put 17' which is the size rim I'm looking for, it comes out to 33.8 which makes me just round up to a 34'. Please correct me if Im wrong.

Yah I'm already planning on a cmc and trimming a ton of plastic already when I install all my parts. I just can't decide if I want a slightly taller tire or a tire that is .8th of a inch meatier.

Depending on brand some brands do offer a 295/70/17 about a 33.3x11.8 for a KO2. I am running 285/75/17 BFG KO2's. no cab mount chop needed do to JDFabrication lower control arm mounts and arms. Will be regearing to 4.56 end of Feb. Stock 3.73 are not as bad as I thought they would be but it is very noticeable and the only time I select 5th (AT) is when I am over 60-65 on the freeway. Mine is a 2nd gen. With your 3rd gen a regear will also be needed based on what other 3rd gen owners experience if you don't regear you will most likely never use 6th and possibly 5th gear.

Thanks for confirming this. I am planning on an ADS lift and some BFG 285/75/17s. I was hoping not to have to do a cab chop (partly because although I've heard of it, I have no clue what all it entails) but was planning on the works with the lift including LCAs, gears and an Orange Virus Tuner.
