I would like to install a Pillar Handle on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma for the Driver's Side the same as the passenger side. I was told that the 2017 Toyota Sequoia Handle would fit but they will not recommend it due to the side airbag going off and it striking the driver in the head---this would not be good.

I am hoping someone has figured out how to do this? I checked eight months and there was a Company being run by a Lady who was ordering these as an off brand. However she was "removed" from this site. I did some of my own investigating and could see why.

So again I ask if anyone has done this and would like to share how they did it, it would be much appreciated. Thank You!

    Good luck!

The only hope is for a real vendor to take up the mantle.

There are no airbag concerns as it is the same installation and fitment as the right side. The side curtain pulls down through the rubber trim. If you look in the early pages of the Buyer Beware thread, there are videos and pics of the crash tests. One from just before Toyota deleted it. I can only assume, but with the steering wheel airbag being smaller and deflating faster, the driver could contact the handle during a small overlap collision.
