Getting into the window and into the cab, or into the bed?

Bed: snow does get in but I don’t really care about that, it’s actually pretty minimal but I’m usually just throwing snow gear back there on my way to/from the mountain so having snow dump in from outside isn’t a concern to me. The snow that gets in is just a little drift that just happens to blow in, or whatever might dump off the roof when I’m clearing off the truck if we had a heavier snow fall. I’m probably not the best person to ask, I’ve literally never closed that window and I’ve had the cap for 14 months now, dirt/rain/snow getting into the bed = zero fucks to me.

Cab: yeah, I leave the window open so often that it’s not too uncommon that I forget to close it going into the cab and I’ve had rain/snow get in - it’s generally pretty minimal, but I have neoprene seat covers so I don’t care too much about that either. We live in a super dry high desert climate so the moisture generally isn’t a concern. By contrast I spent a few months in western oregon where it rains constantly and it was a battle to keep general moisture out, if the window was closed condensation formed inside and if it was open it rained in - that I didn’t care for. The only real issue I’ve had from leaving the cab window open is light snow getting into the track and then freezing, so when I get in the next morning and it’s cold AF, the window is frozen open and my kids get cold lol. It thaws out after about 15 minutes of driving around with the heater on. Why do I leave the window open in the winter so much? I like the fresh air, and if it’s snowing outside I have the defrost on hot to keep ice from forming on the windshield while I’m driving and to keep the cab from getting too hot that back window open creates the perfect mix of warm but fresh air in the cab.

i was more curious if snow got between the shell and the cab and blocked any vision.

but why dont you get window visor things and you can leave the side windows open for fresh air without the risk of snow/moisture getting in?

Ride home from work, sun to the left of me slightly forward. Nothing added to rsi windows and nothing added to the rear cab window/slider. Good visibility for what’s there

The garmin mini2 and hardwire kit showed up today. Rear mounting it in the canopy. Need to look into switched power so I’ll either be pulling my 10awg harness out to add a single switched wire or find something near the rear

Yes, that can happen, mostly if I am not careful when removing the snow in the morning and push it into the gap.

Can you, or anyone else with the same setup, confirm that the two slimline racks sit level with one another? I had the full Dissent Offroad setup and sadly it doesn't look like I will be able to modify the top of the bed rack to fit the RSI. So now I'm chasing the rabbit hole of backup options. Tempted to keep the Dissent cab rack and just get some load bars, but dang it I like a platform's functionality.

I just killed 3/4 of my work day at the office reading and catching up on all 120 pages. Decided it was time to make an account and have my first post being a shoutout to everyone with the great insight. Thank You All. I got my eye on a local one for sale. Hopefully it pans out, but for sure picking one up in the near future.

Its roughly the same but these caps can be taken apart which is a huge upside from Leer or ARE caps which come as one giant piece.

If you don't end up finding any locally in the coming months, feel free to reach out our way. We have shipments coming in periodically but they come in from South Africa so it's all up to when containers can get into the shipping ports.
