    I have a 2006 tacoma v6, I've had a reoccurring issue where my truck won't start..
The dash lights up but it doesn't turn whatsoever. There has been a few times i went back out in 10-20 mins and it started up no problem sounding normal. I think it may be a fuse or someone said neutral switch? I'm not too educated in mechanics but I am an apprentice electrician and if I can fix it at home without having to pay for a tow to the mechanic that would be great! If anyone has experienced the same problem or has some advice it would be greatly appreciated!!
*note: I live in Canada and it is currently winter conditions below zero*

It is automatic, last time it was in the shop mechanic said he checked starter. So do you think it most likely is a fuse issue? Thanks for the fast response CraigF I appreciate the advice!

No I do not think it a the fuse.
A fuse is ether good or bad.
    Not sometimes good, sometimes bad

True, any other theories? Its automatic. Could dirty connections be the cause since its an on/off situation?

    Many possibilities. Some quick ones...

    Worn ignition switch

Worn out key (try the spare)

Failing battery / terminal connections poor

    Starter solenoid failing

Always start with the simple stuff.

Put transmission in neutral and try to start it !!!

If it does start then have a bad or failing NSS

Turning headlights on while starting the truck will help identify if it is the battery or starter . If the lights dim when starting it's the battery , if the lights don't dim it's the starter or starter solenoid

Testing the starter by lightly tapping it with wooden handle or stick on the solenoid and starter motor . If it starts then the starter is filled with dirt and debris causing the armature not to make contact

Check your battery terminals. If they are loose or full of oxidation.
