Clearing 305/70/16

Hey! Anyone have experience with 305/70/16 tires on a tacoma. I have a 2.5 in lift and some plastic cutting. Not trying to be the “will my 35s fit” guy but I need some advice before I drop $1100 on em. Thanks!

 

Lift does not guarantee clearance. Anything greater than 285/70/17 will need cmc at 2.5 with good camber.

 

I'm no expert by any stretch.....but I suspect you will have a fairly significant rub problem.

What are the wheel specs? Offset, width...

FWIW.... a lift doesn't make the wheel well bigger or move the suspension components.

well 285 is do-able too. I want bigger rubbers haha! ​

 

Trojan makes a Magnum....but you may need to tie a knot in it......

You better check that a 305 will fit on an 8" rim.

 

I ran 305/65r17's for a long time which should be about the same for fitment. I required a cab mount chop, pinch weld beating, and plastic trimming. Your mileage may vary with wheel offset, tire brand, alignment specs, etc

I ran the 305/65/17 tires on 17x8.5 -10 offset wheels and my truck had 3" of lift and SPC UCA's set to position C I think. The pinch weld was beat back and I had some minor rubbing at full lock when backing up at an angle. I probably could have just ground down the edge of the mount vs a full cmc. If you don't have adjustable UCA's then you'll probably rub even more but the 16x8 0 offset wheels should keep the tire centered pretty well. Do you have any shops nearby that would let you do a test fit?

 

I actually just played it on the safe side and purchased some 285/75/16s I’ll update when they are on

 

Picked up the 285s, gonna get some SCS ray 10s and stick them on
