Hey all, I’m heading down to Big Sur soon and trying to find info on Plaskett. Has anyone been down there recently?

Not super recent...but end of September I camped up on Plaskett. It was open. Prewitt was still closed from the Hwy 1 entrance.

I just camped at Prewitt Ridge a couple weeks ago. Nac-Ferg road is still closed but I did a long loop on Los Burros Road to get there. Took me about 1h 45m to get there taking it slow.

Plaskett Ridge Road is open, but you can only drive down so far.
I initially was going to take this road until I discovered that there’s an impassible section about 3/4 of the way down and all the standard maps do not show that.

This map was a big help, https://bigsurtrailmap.net/interact...898,-121.5651&zoom=10&mode=trailmap&control=1

How as it impassible? was there a landslide or something or was it blocked off w/ barriers?

Can you still enter Plaskett Road from Plastkett Campground and make it up to the ridge line?

Honestly I’m not entirely sure. But when I was planning the trip I called the ranger station and that’s when they informed me you cannot drive past a certain point like maps make it seem, then she gave me the website I posted above.
When I got to the part where South Coast Road meets up with Plaskett Ridge Road there was a sign saying impassable but no barriers.

    It looks like you can.

In this screenshot you can see how the road is broken up.

I know that when I came in from the east side in august from ft hunter liggett, they had actually just locked up the gates.

I was there in Nov. Plaskett Ridge does not go through and was blocked off with barricades at the private property shown in the map posted above. There are a few camp spots before the private property with views of the ocean. The only way to the other side was to take Los Burros Road just south of the Willow Creek Day Use area and then left on South Coast Road. That will take you all the way to Prewitt Ridge where there are a lot of places to camp. South Coast Road is closed North of Prewitt Ridge and Nacimento Ferguson Road is closed as well. These closures are stated to expire 4/30/2022 but I would bet they are extended.
View from a spot I stopped at on South Coast Road:

Picnic at Prewitt Ridge while some folks set up to hang glide:

I’ll be there mid May so that won’t help you, but the closures above are still in effect. Only way in is from Los Burros Road.
