Apologies if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. So I'm trying to eek out a little more power from the ol' Taco and have OVtune and the software already. It helped, but I was wondering if installing something like the AFE momentum intake plus tuning for it would help? It would be hooked up to my snorkel as well and if possible I'd like to take advantage of the semi-forced induction/higher available air flow of the ram scoop and oversized intake filter.

Since these trucks have the "learn how you drive" function and automatically adjust back to stock-ish levels for any bolt on mod that you do, how would you tune to compensate for this? I've never made my own tune maps but would be open to trying.

Easy to get widely available tunes since you have software. Drive it for awhile, then bolt it on.
You need to adjust intake&exhaust valve timing, ignition, throttle, etc. Otherwise it is useless.

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question was more about HOW to actually adjust the timings without screwing up my engine. Any good resources? I know ovtune was kicked off of here

I have an AFE Momentum GT intake on my truck. It was the first mod I did and didn't notice much from it.

Exhaust came next, then a tune. Last week I pulled the AFE intake off and put the stock one back in for some troubleshooting...and the decrease in throttle response and low end/part throttle power was so severe that I literally thought my truck lost it's tune.

After a few days I put the AFE and all the power came right back. It seems on their own they don't do a whole lot, but combined with exhaust and tune the difference is very noticeable.
