Stock goodyear adventures snow rated?

I hope to take delivery of my 2022 off-road Tacoma shortly and of course it has the Goodyear adventure with Kevlar tires. I was looking on goodyear's website and it seems that the stock 265/70 R16 tires are not snow rated but the 265/75 R16 tires are snow rated? Is that correct and why would that be?

Is it that the 265/75s are LT?

My rough and probably wrong calculations indicate that one could gain about an inch by switching to the 75s (these or any 265/75 R16s), seem about right?

On a side note, it seems like these tires are not well respected by folks on this site. Do you think it's mostly hard core off roaders and rock crawlers who don't like them? Or are they just kind of crappy tires?

If the 3peak mountain snowflake is not on the tire, it is not severe snow rated. OEM tires get different specs. I felt that the GY Wrangler Kevlars were horrible in snow/slush ( I am a dedicated winter tire snob), I swapped them out to 265-75-16 Toyo Open Country ATII which are taller, no rubbing, and now the new Open Country ATIII Are 3Peak rated, are quieter, and work very well in the snow slush (but nothing compares to a dedicated winter tire).

Thanks Eurowner--I'm definitely going to try to avoid the annual changes from snow to non-snow tires, although it's just laziness.

I did notice that the 265/70R16s had "OE" as a designation, so I guess you are right, this size of this tire perhaps was only for stock tires on a Tacoma, hence never underwent 3peak testing. It just seemed strange because the tread looks the same on the two sizes, etc., so why one would have received the 3peak designation and the other not (given that they differed, I thought, only in a bit of sidewall). But, maybe they also differ in composition, etc.

A lot cheaper to swap over to winter tires mid-Oct through early April, much safer for you, your family, and friends, and Know that you have the best tires for the conditions when so many drivers do not. Cheaper than Any accident too.
And the nice thing is that you get better wear patterns on both sets and balanced every time!

Worn winter tires are safer than brand new all-season M+S tires (not 3peak) every single time.

 

Reading up on the GY Wrangler All-Terrain Wrangler Adventure Kevlar, it came out in 2013!! Way ahead of 3Peak cert.
Only the heavy 10ply LT E load tires come 3Peak rated.

I live in Wisconsin, no issues with the stock tires. Actually I never had to use 4wd in the snow.
