up date on wheelers leaf springs

Ok guys, got my wheelers 5 leaf pack leaf springs installed today. Thay ride graet. The thumping when I come to a stop is much better but still feel it a little. Now a question for you guys and gals that did the wheelers leaf packs , I now have a what sounds like the bushing to metel rubing sound.Its coming from the bushings. Is this normal? Did you guys have the same prolem? And what did you do to fix it ? Its already driving me nuts!! Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated..

 

Did you grease the shackle bolts before you put them in?

I also recently installed the 5 leaf wheelers springs and they feel great so far but I also replaced my shackles with greaseable ones though

 

I can't offer any help, just more questions. Does the 5 leaf pack have 4 regular leaves and an overload spring, or is it 5 regular + the overload? this is why I'm asking:

I tried calling Wheeler's yesterday, but they only answer the phone Monday through Thursday.

 

The 5 pack is 4 leafs and an over load. I had them installed, so I dont know if thay greased the bolts. I dont beleave thay greased the bolts..

than take it back the the place you got it done at and tell them what it is doing.

 

have you tried greasing the slip joint in the driveshaft?

 

slip joint is now greased and is doing much better. I did call the place that did the install thay said if it dos not go away to spary some silicone lub between the bushing and the shackel, I did and no change. Waiting to see if it gos away after braking in .

 

Thanks mt girl, Iam going to pick up some of that teflon lub. I hope it dos the job.. It already driving me nuts!!

 

i got in a hurry installing my leaf pack and forgot to grease them. ..they squeeked something fierce. ...i tried every kind of spray lub i could find, but nothing worked. ...had to take them off, lube them up, and reinstall them. ...wasn't too difficult. ...took about an hour.

 

you could also try the "bicycle inner tube between the leafs mod" to quiet the squeeking,itd be a more permanent fix.

 

Thank you for all the good ideas. Iam waiting for the weather to worm up and then try lubing them up with teflon spray lub. Hope for the best. Thanks again for all the replys !!

 

Looking for an update on how happy folks are with the Wheelers 5-pack. Mileage, time, sag, ride, so on and so forth spill the beans. Maybe close to picking some up. I currently have a fabtech 2" AAL on stock springs (89k) that wok fine, but are sagging on drivers side about one inch compared to pass side. I also have camper shell and roof rack, frequently carry loads, would like to hear update from people like me. Thanks!

 

They work great. I haven't noticed any sag after 8k, but I haven't measured either. I buttered up the bolt shanks with anti-seize during install and buttered up all the bushings with grease, and haven't had noise issues other than faint squeaks from the anti-friction pads, like Lisa was mentioning.

 

Thanks for the input! I'm somewhat concerned they will give way to "taco lean" just like the others, thats why I'm inquiring. Especially for me....as I have a daily driver and only use the Taco for weekend excursions where I'm flexing the hell out of springs with ~350lbs in bed (including camper shell weight). Anybody out there that can give review of similiar application? Thanks again SCOCAR!

 

I have about 5,000m or so on mine and they are still doin great and holding up. They have definitely settled quite a bit since I installed them but it ended up working out great and is to be expected.

I drive around with quite a bit of weight in the back end on a regular basis between my topper, roof basket, racks, and about 80 pound of equipment in a tool box in the back end.



I will try to get some pics posted soon of the side veiw and what the leafs look like right now so you can see how much the are flexed
