Hi I’m trying to find a wheel that is good to run 35” tires. Are cheap steadies a thing of the past? I’ve done all the appropriate mods to fit them.
    CMC
    Spc uca’s
    Lots of trimming
    Arb modified bumper
    4.88 nitro gears.
I’m currently running 285/70/17 bfg ko2s and it screams above 60.
Any direction would be appreciated. Sorry if this has been covered.
As always thankyou for the wisdom

What is wrong with your current wheels to run 35's? I would never run steelies due to added weight, bends easily on impact, and most importantly depending on location - RUST.

Steel is preferable. Not enough weight difference to matter. Yes they will bend if you hit something hard enough. But they can be bent back with a hammer and still used. Aluminum in the same situation will crack and will have to be trashed. The sheet metal will be gone long before rust becomes a factor with wheels.

    Method 701 bead grip
    They recommend 17x8.5 for 33
I’m guessing that size may be good for 35 as well but I’m not sure

I imagine you don’t want one too wide because then the rim is closer to scratching on a rock instead of the tire contacting first
I believe in 17” their only other option is 17x9

I believe there’s a chart listing options/recommended dimensions based on what tires would be run

    A 315/75/16 has a little more sidewall than a 35 on 17 inch rim.

To figure diameters and such the tire calculator is a good tool. Lets you tinker with various sizes to see how they compare.

Thanks guys, I’m going to look into the method bead grip wheels. I’m on stock trd sport wheels so I am thinking they would be to narrow for a 35 to work properly.

Anyone have a source for steelies if the methods end up breaking the bank this time?
