Make a plywood ‘step’ box and throw it in the bed… cutout handles, staple/glue a chunk of old carpet to the top.

Half the height from the seat, big dog - bigger box.

"The dogs need a step" That's how I justified the rock sliders to my wife, I paid the extra for the fill plate and kick out just to add credibility to my story.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
That sucks OP. It's something I have always been concerned with and have tried to mitigate. Like someone above mentioned, tailgate jumps can be devastating, too. Years ago, my first field dog, Jack...a black lab, had a similar injury. Fortunately soft tissue but it took him out of the game for a couple weeks during waterfowl season. I think it was harder for him to be out than it was for me! My vet, a fellow hunter taught me a move he uses every day on big dogs getting UP on the exam table and getting DOWN. Grab the pup by the root of the tail with right hand, and grab under the collar with left. Lift and swing simultaneously and it's a very quick, pretty easy move with little impact on pooch. No collars you have to grab scruff and sometimes pup might not like that.

Now that my black lab Stu is getting on in years, I'm doing this for him because I can see I don't, he really struggles to commit to the jump off the door sill so I know he's worried and all stoved up over it. Just a recipe for disaster.

I might have to look at keeping a folding stool in my truck. My F150 was higher but also had more room in the back for them to jump in and out of. My younger one jumps in no problem but the older one looks to me for help sometimes. But lifting 2 bulldogs that are pushing 60lbs each isn't easy on the back, lol

I use the folding stairs for my 3. They seem to like it better than a ramp, and it doesn't knock out my back assisting 3 hyperactive dogs.

Edit: similarly at home, I don't want them jumping up and down off the bed either. So I built a dog bunk with a booster step.

She is allowed to jump out on her own if its not on concrete, asphalt, etc.

Hope the pooch is doing well.

Lift her in and out. She only weights 65/70lbs. But is also 12. Bone spurs in her hips as well. Taco is just way to high for her. I don't mind lifting her, she's seen me though the last 11 years and 11 months of my life. Only the best for this fluffy idiot.

Apologies for the dark image. She does love the rear slider though..

Made it out of a couple leftover sheets of 1/2 inch finished ply and cheap outdoor carpet. It was fairly easy to cut and assemble. Staining and poly coat after assembly was a bit of a pain.

I have a ramp that folds in half. My dog is terrified of stairs and it took some training, but the ramp was the best thing for both of us. I ended up on the asphalt helping him in with a back injury. He's 12 and I'm not getting any younger.
I did find that the ramp was too steep if I put it directly on the folded down seat. I ended up putting the end on the truck floor and got him over his fear of the final step. I'll get a picture when I go outside for the day.

My Black Lab/Pit Bull/Doberman is restrained in the truck with a harness because he is just to anxious and obnoxious to be loose in the back seat. I have to unhook him from the truck and use the handle on the harness to get him out of the truck sorta like a suitcase. Greatly reduces the chance of him injuring himself jumpin out. He's a real knucklehead but still luv him.
