got mine within a few days. One year later and after asking about any revision (04B04) they are still silent after 9 days.

 

they need to know your ECU ID and any options (tire size, gearing,...) and SC serial number and work order number to report to Magnuson to get the proper Calibration - normal. Be sure you get the VFTune hardware from them - you can download the software from Magnuson to do your own tune flashing - just need to get with Magnuson on this. The hardware is a case, cable and Tactrix OBD device - probably about $180 if you had to repurchase.

 

question: I have a guy trying to complete the installation of a blower and he says VF tuner won't register in his computer and that Magnuson wasn't able to help him do so. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Blower's installed and sitting in his garage waiting on a tune.

 

Make sure every possible firewall/adblock/AV protection is set to off.

 

yeah, says he's done that. I suggested he try to use a different computer. I'd just go buy a new one to use temporarily and return, but they all seem to come with windows 11

I should have gotten more details from him. Im going to try to acquire a windows machine or install it on my Mac and go Monday morning and install/register it. he just said it wasn't working..

??? if it works on Windows 11 then there are a few other things it could be - 1st - the proper information must be provided to Magnuson on their forms before Magnuson will provide a Master Key for the software. The software can be downloaded from the Magnuson web page. So if the installer did not submit all of the required data and did not receive the master key from Magnuson the software software will not function. Information such as User Name, Pass Word,... must be created after the MK is entered during the initial launch process. If any AntiVirus software is running in the background it is likely the process will fail. This includes virus screen protector, firewall, scan, cloud scan,... You may want to post your location as it is highly likely there is a VFT person near you that can help better than we can over the forum posts. If you have a lap-top that is windows 10 you would be better off to do all of this yourself and not use a vendor (mechanic) computer. At least then you know exactly what has been submitted and have control over the software and information loaded into it (password, user name, Master Key). Sorry for the problems you are having. Hope they get resolved soon. BTW - some use the MAC with Boot Camp and they say it works too. @tonered may be able to provide more on this.

excellent info. was just pricing windows 10 to put on my Mac. He's dead in the water till Monday anyway, so I have a few minutes to get that sorted and show up Monday morning and try to take the reigns

 

You can just download the win10 trial and activate it later…or just never activate it.

 

The VFTuner installation instructions can be found on the OVTune web page - presume the software version from Magnuson is a "lite" version of the software meaning you can only Flash and not edit - installation process should be the same. Looks like a lot but it is really easy and the computer will pretty much do everything necessary - you just need the required information to input when prompted. GL.

 

Id be delighted to install it myself. working out the trial version of windows for my Mac right now. I really really appreciate everyone's help.

 

man, you guys are indispensable. got windows and vF tuner installed. I just need to procure my hardware and master key from installer. Most likely Monday. Thanks again.

 

as an aside, is this vF tuner that comes with the Maggie the hardware I need to install the eventual Forced induction tune?

KDMax is for the N/A trucks. But yes, it’s installed with Vftuner.
@mZiggy is working on the tune for Supercharged Tacomas. It is also flashed using Vftuner.

 

just remember you must have the cable and obd device connected to your PC before you launch the program (internet service required always). The VFt software will find and register and your VIN the the server (the first time you launch when connected to the truck) and it will verify your ECU ID to ensure your Tune matches. GL.
