That does seem like a common sense thing to do, but I'm not sure I understand what somebody might do with that information? They could read that number off any vehicle in any public parking area.

Installed a Midland MXT-275 and hardwired it to the cab fuse panel with the help of a Meso Customs fuse cover. Put the head unit in the glove box then ran the antenna to the hood. Pretty clean setup if you ask me.

Does that radio require a license?

Is it easy to use all functions with the controls located only on the handset?

I've been starting to think it's time to head off-road now that the truck is better equipped, and a decent set of radios is sort of the last bit of kit I'd want beyond armor -- but looking online it's hard to trust what I read in terms of expert or novice reviews (it's a bit of a shit show if I'm being honest.)

Yes, it requires a “ZA - General Mobile Radio (GMRS)” license to transmit

@BudFriendguy it is a GMRS radio so you do need a license, that being said it’s $70 and is good for 10 years. Best part no exam to get it. Just fill out the online application and you are GTG. Everyone in our group uses GMRS, so it was an easy decision for me. That being said different groups use different radios.

Having all the controls on the mic is awesome in my opinion, everything is right there in your hand and is easy to operate single handedly. I have a decent amount of radio experience from the military, but these midlands are super easy to pick up and use. The only part that can be a little complex is setting up privacy tones. But that is strictly optional and easy to do if you just follow the instructions.

How many miles on it before the last payment? Congrats! Looking to finish paying mine off before summer ends. I can do it now ($11k) but want to break it up a bit instead of just paying 11k all at once. 27k miles on mine.

Body armor bumper? What winch? What suspension do you have to compensate for the bumper. Looking to have the same sort of bumper

@Doc62 I chose POUTLET NO1. I wanted to make sure that when I take my keys out the radio turns off. If I ever decide I want constant power I’ll swap it to S/ROOF.

    So. Many. Stickers.
They do the inspection, then scan your renewal card barcode in. By the time you're home, you renew online and it's all there. No DMV nonsense.

Emissions only required in 4 counties in Missouri. Of course, it's the 4 largest.... Boo

Cabs aren't airtight. Air compresses. You'll be fine.

    :bananadance: nice shag there....

Takes about 10 minutes if you have an aftermarket bumper.
