I haven't seen anybody mount a smittybilt 2781 inside the expedition essentials mount, but I found a EE mount used, so i figured I'd give it a shot. It finally went in today, and I figured out how to do it solo by pulling it up with a tow strap. But for those wondering if the smittybilt 2781 would fit, it does, and the only difference is that you don't need to cut the rib on the inside of the bed. I hooked it up with a breaker, and used a bunch of China Amazon parts for the air manifold and pressure sensor. The only thing I still have to do is get some fully insulated 90 degree quick connects for the pressure sensor. The way I went from 4 gauge to the smitty's factory 10 gauge wire was by using a splitter typically used for audio setups. This was the only "QD" type way I could find because 4 gauge typically requires an Anderson connector, but Anderson's don't cover that big of a gap. It's all setup to accept an air tank whenever I get around to it, but it's just the one 1/4" QD for now.

Does anybody use regulators on their OBA system in an effort to be even lazier? I tried implementing one in mine and setting it to 40psi so it automatically cuts off when the tire is full, but after it reached about 35 the compressor started turning off and on rapidly, like the input side of the regulator was building up to 115psi (switch = off) and then letting air flow to the tire before cutting off again. Has anyone else had similar experiences with regulators? I know this isn't their typical use, but I don't get why it would make my system spaz out like this. As I understand them, regulators are little more than a fancy check valve, so there shouldn't really be anything that could open and close it like that.
Also, I disconnected the regulator and used the system without it just fine, so there's no issues with the compressor or the pressure switch.

Feel like you’d need to install it close to the tire for it to work properly but I don’t know. I just have a digital gauge that I stop when it gets to the desired psi. I’m sure somebody sells one that will automatically stop

You need a tank to buffer the pressure on the regulator.

I was just thinking about that. I was wondering if I could get away without one if I could find some kind of inline relief valve or check valve that opens at 80psi or something like that. Something to make sure the feed side of the regulator stays at a higher pressure if that makes sense. I do eventually want a tank, but that's another chunk of change to get all setup.

You could also try eliminating the pressure switch and just use the regulator and dash switch.

I could definitely give that a try, didn't even cross my mind.

I have the ARB single and am considering an air tank to help with filling tires. From everything I've gathered around the forums, it seems the tank won't necessarily speed up the process, as much as it will give the compressor a break while doing so.

The tank I am looking at is a 3 gallon tank.
Tires I am filling are 285/75r16 (33s) and they are usually set to around 15PSI for off road. Fill pressure to 35PSI

Will the 3-gal tank be worth investing in? Will it decrease my fill up times? Should I run larger hoses from the tank to decrease fill time, or is that even a thing?

    Thank you for any help

It will only delay the compressor start. After it kicks on the compressor will be trying to fill both the tank and a tire. It’s more useful to have a tank when you need a supply of regulated pressure especially if it’s a low volume use like lockers. The pressure is already built up ready for use.

I'm trying to find a spot to mount a remote air chuck for the ARB. I have the ARB bumper. Does anyone know of any mounting solutions? I want to avoid popping my hood to air up. thank you

Another question: Does anyone know if the wiring kit for the single arb is the same as for the dual compressor? Thanks

--I got the dual compressor. The wiring for it would definitely work for the single compressor (basically it looks like they just added extra wires for the dual kit--you would just end up not using them and have extra wires, which you can either cut off or just tape up.)

The single kit wiring wouldn’t work for the dual as the dual wiring has an extra positive for the second compressor with an additional inline 40A fuse.
The dual wiring WOULD work for the single, as stated above, you could just simply tape it above and not use the additional positive.

I mounted mine, temporarily, by zip-tying it to the grille. I’m awaiting my BAMF hybrid bumper and once I get that installed, I’m going to drill a hole and mount it slightly offset to the right from the center within the high hoop.

For now the grille location works great to run my MORRFlate kit but in order to mount it to the bumper, you’ll need to purchase the ARB coupler mounting kit which includes the metal bracket, which I won’t use, but also the large metal bolt to hold the coupler to the location.

Thanks for sharing your set up.
You plan to drill a hole straight into the bumper?
And I like the grille idea I was actually considering the same thing, but instead screwing the arb 3-way bracket behind the grille and then having the coupler be exposed through the grille so I don’t have to pop the hood. Not sure I want to drill holes in my ARB bumper.
I considered having a shop do that but if I can manage a similar set up that doesn’t look too bad then I’m going to save the money and do that.

Since I ordered the ARB dual, it should come with its own wiring (Got it used) which is good because I’m going to try and plumb my single in conjunction with the dual. Here is my diagram:

Yeah I wanted to stick with the grille position and planned to do a more permanent solution using the 3-way bracket. However, after using my MORRFlate, the manifold is so heavy that it puts a lot of pressure on the coupler and I could see it causing future failure. Hence, I plan on attaching the coupler to the rigid metal of the bumper.

Makes sense. Yea I just ordered the morrflate I’m stoked about it. I got the extension so i could just stand there with it all in my hands hopefully it’ll work out how I imagine it

    Great suggestions, everyone!
I've been using a Viair compressor with built-in 12v power leads. But with a 4DLB I am getting tired of running out of length of power leads for the RR tire. I'm thinking of upgrading to a better on-board compressor and aux battery in the bed :D
