3rd Gen Sled Deck? How to haul sleds on DCSB

I was curious if anyone hauls their snowmobiles with a sled deck on their 3rd Gen Tacoma, specifically a DCSB. If not, a trailer? Not a whole lot on here in terms of people using their Tacoma as a source of transportation for sleds which I'm wondering if that's a sign.

 

I use a trailer personally. Just much less of a pain in the ass. Mines all aluminum, 1800lbs empty. Has two 4800 lb axels (way overkill, I know, but thats just how I roll) and it’s actually not a sled specific trailer lol. Just a general purpose enclosed trailer. I haul everything from furniture to atvs to sleds in it. It has a track system for fully customizable 8k lb tie downs. It’s just so much easier to ride up a foot tall ramp into a closed trailer that I can lock shut and have everything protected by the elements. Doesn’t make sense to buy a deck imo.

 

Man that is some awesome intel thank you! That definitely seems like the best way to go I dig the setup the trailer looks and sounds legit I'll have to look into something similar! Do you haul two sleds usually? Are they backcountry ones? The main question I'm sure you get hounded with is how does the truck feel when pulling it loaded out?

 

I would never put a sled deck on a Taco even 1/2 tons don't handle them to well. I have seen lots being in a snow belt. They only look safe on a 3/4 ton.

 

I think the deck itself would put the truck over weight capacity.

trailer idea is brilliant.

 

Your payload is probably around a thousand pounds. Two sled and a deck are over that. Plus all that weight so high up is a recipe for disaster.

I haul mine on a trailer. I used to put it in the bed of my f150 but my skis won't fit between the wheelwells on my taco so it's trailer only.

 

2 sleds, a 99 vmax 600 and an 01 venture 600. Vmax is a 120ish track and the venture is roughly 140. Truck feels fine loaded, I haul much heavier than this. Gets about 13mpg. This trailer is about 18ft- if you want long tread sleds I’d look into a longer trailer (23-24ft) and the truck will handle it just fine as long as you get an all aluminum one.
