Hello all and thanks for your advice in advance. I have a 2019 Tacoma trd sport with a 3” lift. I bought it used through Carvana and when I got it I found it had an air lift system install for towing. I’ve had the truck for about 8 months and one of the air bags blew out and the other one is leaking. I haven’t had a really use for the air lift system and would rather go off-roading with the truck, I’ve read the airlift airbags are really bad for off-roading since the don’t have any give.I like the idea of being able to tow a trailer or board, but don’t see it happening anytime soon. I’d like anyones advice on if I should just get rid of the whole system and go to a standard lift kit for the back, or maybe change the bags for Firestone air bags, which I read work better for off-roading, or if there’s another option or idea I’m not even thinking of.

You should 100% get upgraded springs, its more suitable for load and offroading.

https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...t-dakar-leaf-springs-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/ 300lb springs would work and you can always add a spring if desired.

I usually recommend that a 2" lift is more suitable for towing, you lose down travel when towing, and with 3" lift you already have limited down travel to start with. So steering gets lighter and the truck is less effective. Especially on spacer front lifts.

What kind of off-roading do you plan to do? On fire roads and beach airbags are fine.

It’s nothing to crazy for off roading. It’ll mostly be service roads and mountain/ forest areas on N Georgia. I haven’t done it much, I’m still in the learning taking it easy phase.
