Hey all, I've been chasing down an odd rattle. I'm 99% positive it's from the front passenger area (Rattle does not occur on the driver's side). To me, it sounds kind of hollow or loose. There's no sharp noise, no metal on metal, It does not go away when pressing the breaks, and does not go away with weight.

I installed Fox 2.0's all the way around with an AAL in the rear about 3k miles ago (currently at 28k). I visually inspected all the components and re-torqued everything.

Today I took it to a local shop for an alignment, and for them to try and take a crack at the rattle. Alignment's good, but no luck on the rattle.

The sounds is mostly noticeable when going over smaller jagged bumps, pot holes, and small speed bumps

Oh yea 2020 dcsb - auto

I took a short video of the sound (heard at 11, and 15 seconds)
    https://youtu.be/h4H9JZzjjoI

** SOLVED - turned out to be a bad Fox 2.0 Coilover. I will update with more information once Fox gets back to me

I had the same noise, another TW member told me to play around with passenger's seat, so I did. Slide it foward and back, raised the seat back up, then drove it around with my hand on the headrest, low and behold it was the seat, crazy I know because I thought it was coming from the glove box you can give it a try. Good luck!

Question - you don't happen to have some type of insert in you center console storage box, do you?

I chased a rattle that I thought was coming from either the glove box or rear door...only to finally discover that when the lid is closed on the console storage box, the inset I have rattles. When the lid is open, it doesn't.

Oh thats a new one, i'll try it!

I do! And I didn't think to take that out, I literally removed everything from the truck minus the tire jack (it seems very secured and didn't move at all when I tried), center console insert or my glovebox insert. I'll give it a shot.

Well, I tried both suggestions above, removed everything from the center console/glovebox, and changed the seat position/removed the headrest. the noise is still there. I suppose I could remove the seat altogether to really rule it out, as the back piece does have some play.

Next move I will swap the two front wheels. if that doesn't work ill throw the stock suspension back in. Not sure what a bad strut sounds like or if its common for these Fox 2.0's to go bad at such low mileage, but I'm really starting to think that's what the issue is

    Nothing yet
So, mine did that. It was the owners manual moving around in the glove box.

Alright, so I'm 99% sure it is suspension-related. I have taped down my hood rod, checked the bolts on the hood, and even took off my bed rack. I also looked behind the glove box as @KQL mentioned. That hollow sound in the video can somewhat be felt on the floor. I'm also certain it's the front right since I have a small speed bump that allows me to hit just 1 tire at a time and reproduce the noise.

For anyone interested I found what seems to be a similar issue on the .

I will update this thread this weekend when I have time to put the stock coil overs back in.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far!

I have similar rattles...it's usually the passenger seat belt when not in use or something in the glove box.

Ruled that one out, I've removed everything from the truck and even had someone sitting in the passenger seat. Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to feel it on the floor if it was the seat belt
    :annoyed:

UPDATE! it's the Coilover.. removed my Fox 2.0's and reinstalled the stock TRD OR coilovers, NOISE IS GONE!
Glad I found it but pissed my coilover failed after 3k miles, 90% pavement, and 10% gravel roads. Hopefully Fox will be able to help me out.

Also very surprised it's so hard to find information on what a bad shock sounds like. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future!

Had similar. Did not know you could hand twist unscrew those round rubber bumpers to make the hood latch down more snug.

Doing the 2.0 shocks and the AAL, how much lift did you achieve?

@gpack I'd say about 1" - 1.25". I didn't adjust the shocks at all, just installed them out of the box. About the same results for the AAL (I didn't keep the overload spring in).

Good to hear. What do those shocks adjust to?

I read the overload produces a very stiff ride, but will maintain lift once the AAL settles.

I don't know the exact adjustment range, but here's a picture of where the collar comes from fox. There seems to be plenty of room for adjustment. To adjust these you need to actually compress the coil to make your adjustments, you can't adjust them while on the vehicle.

    None....yet..
For what its worth, I thought I had a rattle over there and it turned out to be the passenger seatbelt bouncing against the plastic.
