Hello there. If I understand correct, the stock exhaust on my truck is stainless. So that would most likely be 409 ( cheaper and weaker then 304 ) stainless. I can get a 304 set to replace the headers and converters. However it has the 2 upper converters deleted. The stock exhaust lasted 10 years before a flange let go , so 8 more years out of my truck is about all I may get due to a high salt area. Looking for advice where to get a good exhaust system. Like to hear what someone is using with good results. Thanks for any reply.

So exactly what parts are you looking for? Manifold back or fatback?

I might buy the complete exhaust if I was convinced it was good quality. Muffler, tail pipe included. I can get a 304 ss system for about 1500 ca . The problem is like I said in original post. It has 2 converters missing. Not sure how that affects sound and fault codes. That does not include the intermediate pipe, muffler and tail pipe.

TRD = Toyota Racing Development. Basically, it's the factory high performance exhaust system and available through your dealer.

My flange was shot so being 400 km away from home I got the two flanges cut off and a piece of pipe welded in. All good now for a year but I would much rather replace it all after 10 years in the salt environment. However I am having trouble finding any replacements. Some replacements are available but I am on sure how well they will work with 2 less converters. Dealers are not called stealer-ships for nothing, so they would be a last resort for a complete exhaust. So for now I have to keep trying to see what is out there so I can get something ordered and have it available when I go at the job. Sorry being so long replying . I was in a area with no communications for 8 days.

I want to avoid the dual exhaust. Just want something to keep the truck running for her remaining years.

1500 for what sounds like a manifold back exhaust, except minus 2 cats, muffler, and tail pipe?

At least here in California, they don’t want you touching anything forward of the cat. So I’ve never heard of anything other than a cat back being available. I’ve also never heard of an exhaust system sold missing a pipe, muffler and tail pipe. Is your 304 stainless deal a custom job? If yes, work with your fabricator to find a muffler and tail pipe that’ll fit.

I did a custom 3.5” stainless exhaust for someone. He bought all the materials, did most of the prep, and paid me 2 hamburgers.

For about $300 usd MBRP makes a cat back exhaust for your truck. It will be louder than stock, but it would be my choice if I was in your shoes.

TRD is exactly what I was looking for. Not obnoxiously loud, just enough rumble to register, looks great too! upload_2022-2-21_1-26-49.jpg

same. Had a Vibrant 1141 welded in to stop highway drone.

only upgrade I want to do it now is chop the back off somewhere for axle dump clearance and hiding the tip, plus a reroute to clear trans skidplate

no idea if a reroute is bad like if it restricts exhaust flow outward as opposed to something like an aftermarket Y-pipe (URD etc) but that’s $500+ vs a cheaper reroute

Thank you much! I’m not a fan of chrome but for some reason I LOVE my chrome exhaust tip (only chrome accent on the truck), I like to keep it sparkling:p
