    According to ARB's website:

"We DO NOT suggest any oils with limited-slip additives as they can shorten the life of the ARB Air Locker seals."

I've searched all around the interwebz and there doesn't seem to be any consensus on what gear oils are safe to use for ARB Air Lockers. For those of you that use an ARB Air Locker, what gear oil are you using?

Just put a 75-90 that has no ls additives just as ARB instructed.

Right, but I'm having a hard time finding any gear oil that DOESN'T have any additives?

Yeah that's what's so confusing. It's difficult to tell which oils do or do not have LSD additives - they all seem to have *some* kind of additive.

Most Times you add the Limited Slip additive to your gear oil when changing gear oil.

A limited Slip rear end works on Centrifugal force the spinning wheel causes it to lock .It

Your Air Locker uses a Solenoid and locks mechanically .

What is your favorite brand of gear oil that you would normally use ?

I don't have one - this is the first time I would be changing the gear oil myself, and after installing a front ARB air locker (which is all new to me).

My OP question (For those of you that use an ARB Air Locker, what gear oil are you using?) was to find out what other people were using so that I could solicit some options?

For the Air locker vehicles I serviced I used Wolf`s Head Gear Oil I doubt it would be easy to get in your part of the country.

I have been using their products a long time .

That is why I asked if you had a favorite brand.

A bit of an old thread I know... but I just spoke to ARB about this very question as their website says to do one thing, and the manual that came with my ARB locker states something a bit different...

The told me to use the viscosity/type of oil that the manufacturer (Toyota) recommends - with the caveat that there should be no limited-slip type additive, and that it should be non-synthetic. He explained why it shouldn't be synthetic but I don't remember exactly - so call them if you want to find out more about that. I just wanted to pass this along...

Direct from East Coast Gear Supply I run Lucas Gear Oil 85w 140 Heavy in both my front and rear with 5.29s and ARB lockers.
