At the end of the day, people can spend their money however they like. Been going on forever, and will keep going on. Off grid/overlanding just happens to be a trend right now. People buy 250mph supercars and never take them on a track, my brother spent $6,000 on a decked out race pistol and doesn't compete, etc. Could go on for days with examples.

Not much difference between a fully built overland rig or a pro street race car. When you are sitting in rush hour traffic.

It's a start. Lights, more lights for the win.

Shame they never used it. I am a firm believer in only carrying what you need for that moment 9r near future. If you aren't planning on going camping within a week or two take the damn RTT off!

Once you experience the passes in Colorado you’ll be going back for sure. I got hooked a decade ago and look forward to a trip every summer. The views and experiences never get old. Like mentioned you honestly don’t need all the Overland Gucci equipment you see in many photos. I love seeing the over built rigs every year going up and down the same passes guys in their stock 98’ GMC 4x4 are. I still find it crazy that when I started over landing (we used to just call it truck camping) all we needed was prepacked meals, a tent at best (we did a lot of sleeping bags in bed of trucks) and a shovel/tow rope. Now over landing has gotten so crazy and guys bring so much stuff, some even tow trailers behind them cause they have so much stuff, it’s wild. If you have some play money for the truck, sliders/skids/tires will take you pretty much anywhere you want to take a daily driver. Enjoy the views up there and be safe.

As someone who lives in south central Utah, I can say that most of the people I see waltzing through here are seriously over modded.

PM me for my setup details. I regularly cross the staircase and live off of BLM roads.

So my basic set up for in general "overlanding" in Montana is a nice REI Kingdom tent and just basic camping gear truthfully. I do have a Yakima Overhaul Rack and am planning on getting some water rotopaxs just to save bed space, but I primarily use my rack for kayaks and the paddle boards.

I won't invest in a RTT, because you basically have to pack up camp to be able to explore anywhere in the truck. Always thought the idea of one was awesome though! But they are crazy expensive and my tent doesn't take up much bed space to begin with lol.

Eventually I will be getting a front bumper, don't really feel the need for a rear though. Suspension wise I will be spending the most on as I would like a little more cush ride while hitting trails, plus the little bit of height always does help on occasion.

But like some people have said is just get out there and see what you need and can live without!

I bought the Toyota warranty rather than the dealer warranty. Thank you for the advice, it really helps!

Some very good advice about taking the truck out stock first then see what you really need for how you are going to drive it. People forget how capable these things are right off the showroom floor. If you're doing dirt roads and such to camp sites just invest in a decent set of AT tires, load up your camping gear, and you're pretty much good to go. It's you're money and you need to do what makes you happy, but you may find you need less for your truck than you thought and have more to spend on your trips :)

Make the search function better and maybe it would be easier to find things. So maybe you could piss off and post nothing next time if you're not inclined to offer some help.

I agree dude. The search function is trash on this site. I have better luck finding Tacoma world threads on google than here on the actual site lol

There's a wealth of information here, but it's difficult to find and it's scattered between threads in the garage section and the general discussion section. And then you get tools posting "use the search function" and expect people to wade through hundreds of pages of nonsense. Needle in the haystack. Point people in the right direction or STFU.

I really like them. I'm on my second set right now. I feel as though they are similar to KO2s, just without the price.

That's a good bit west of me. My place is just south of the town of Blue Ridge.
