I need an honest opinion… hypothetically If there were holes drilled into my muffler, would that present any serious problems with carbon monoxide? Hypothetically there are four holes on the underside of the exhaust. I know many people with under exiting exhausts and it doesn’t seem to present any major issues.

If the muffler was under the cab (like a car) and you where idling a lot, maybe. What you are saying is no different then cutting the exhaust just past the axle, and i haven't heard of problems. Since it's under the bed there is plenty of air flow before the exhaust can seep into the cab.

    Agreed.

It just kinda depends on the situation. There are other exhausts that exit under the cab like that and it's not a problem. That said, there are vents in the back wall of the cab which could let exhaust gasses into the cab. Although likely not enough to be a problem (dangerous) even if you could smell them from time to time if you're idling without there being good ventilation.

I'm interested to hear what your truck sounds like now that you've drilled holes in the muffler :)

And when you drill holes, if you are disappointed in the results, do you have a plan B?
