Yup. I'm guessing the rider is inexperienced with the bike's speed, braking, and turning limits. It's much easier/quicker for an experienced biker to quickly turn into a street or do a u-turn than a driver would be able to.

 

Go somewhere the car couldn't. Narrow passage. Going into oncoming traffic, not so much. Oncoming car twitches with indecision and you're a stain.

 

I have a bigass can of bear spray attached to my handlebars….

I've heard of riders carrying caltrops to blow tires and bearing balls to crack windshields as well for these scenarios. Of course to be used as a last ditch measure.

 

My buddy, the retired state trooper, carried a few guide rail nuts in his leather jacket…

This is the way. Park in-between cars or light poles as this nut definitely appears willing to hit you with the car. Remove your helmet as soon as you stop because you can get choked out with it on AND a full faced helmet turns into a comfortable swinging weapon.

 

There has to be more to the plan here, right?

 

Yeah it’s really easy to grab that helmet and wrench someone’s head around, especially if the visor is open.

All my gloves are armored too, an atgat motorcyclist would be no fun to fight. Certainly better odds than fucking around in traffic like the idiots in the video.

first off I would stop flipping the guy off, doesn't seem to be helping
then I would try and get the f*ck out of there, like maybe when he goes shooting past like at the 24 second mark, go right into the parking lot and double back....
seems like a better idea than riding down the other side of the road into oncoming traffic

That explains it. The biker was in the wrong but the dude driving wasn't in the right either. He should have just let it go from the beginning.

 

Zipping between cars in lanes like that has never seemed like a good idea to me, regardless of legality.

 

A lot of ego that needed to be put aside here. Nobody wins in this situation. The guy on the bike was kind of d*ck but really?!? The guy in the car was just an absolute ass and could have killed or crippled the guy on the bike. Is it really worth spending time in the can for a not very big deal in the grand scheme of things. The guy in the car was out of control and dangerous to everybody. Once you get the plate on video just pull into a parking lot. Call the cops. If the guy in the car still comes after you, Well its just going to get ugly at that point. I would let the guy in the car escalate the situation. At least this way you can justify your actions when YOU end up in court. and make no mistake. If the guy in the car comes after you in the parking lot it doesn't end well for anybody.

 

I feel like the cop at the 0:52 mark would've stopped the whole deal with a ticket for the motorcyclist here in Va. If you go out of your way to get in front of someone at a stoplight you best have a quicker reaction time AND a quicker vehicle or you're just gonna look like a jackass. Of course the initial jackass move by the bike doesn't justify the insane behavior by the driver.
