Trailer about 90% done with the weldeng. Gonna take a couple days off from this hot mess.

Need an opinion from the teams:

Take a look at the fenders.

This trailer was to origanally have a drop spindle axle, which puts the trailer closer to the ground. These fenders are designed for that type of axle. They cover 6 more inches of the tire.

Should I lop off that 6" or is it not that big of a deal?

I didn’t notice until you said this, I say cut them off. Once you lower the trailer off the lift they will look even closer to the ground. Possibility someone goes through a ditch or something weird and hangs one and bends it and they’ll be sick.

I think it’s a fair price with all the extras.

It’s easier to cut them off now than wishing you would have done it after painting it

Assuming it's in really good condition, no slop or wear in the ways, no lash in the carriage/cross-feed/compound rest or tail-stock, I'd be hard-pressed to offer $1500 for that.

 

Really? It's the bottom-end model (flat ways), it looks like it's been used hard and not overly-well maintained. Lots of extras & spares, but they look well worn too, and likely not all that useful.

 

If I was keeping the truck, I would go this route. I strongly considered those but at the end of the day I'm gonna be punting this truck in the next year for sure.
