    Different rods for different applications.

6010 will be your root weld for a lot of things whether it's on pipe, I beam or what have you.

If you do stainless steel, you'll only ever use 308/L. You learn 70xx rod, you'll easily run 308/L. You'll never realistically run verticals on stainless, but it's fun to learn as it helps you learn vertical with other rods on ferrous steel.

All is correct but the 70xx part... The first 2 numbers in an electrodes designation is the tensile strength 7018 is 10k psi stronger than 6010

Had an issue crop up on our last outing where, several times, after a couple of miles of enthusiastic wheeling we would find that my tailgate had popped open and was laying against the rear bumper swingouts getting beat to shit plus a metric shiton of dust had entered into the campershell area and coated everything. So...I need to come up with a simple, elegant solution for a latch(es) on the inside of the tailgate to stop that from happening. Any ideas or suggestions from the hive mind would be much appreciated. TIA

Maybe your latch is just worn out or need adjustment.

I do understand tensile strengths, but 70xx rods don't penetrate as much which is why 6010 would normally be run as your root weld.

@Empty_Lord are 01-04 Tacoma steering wheels the same as 99-03 4runners? They look pretty close. Just curious if my airbag fits in Tacoma wheel I want to get.
