Alright so I will spare you the gist of the whole situation and why we need a second vehicle to my Tacoma- but here's the criteria:

We don't want to spend much- ideally around 20-30k for something slightly used that has taken the the first few years depreciation. Could go up to 35-40k with a little financing (we have the cash but at this point with inflation why not finance) but only if it's worth it.

Narrowed it down to this list:

    2016+ GX460

2016+ 4runner (I think the GX460 beats this easily as they are the same price used but you get a v8 and much better quality)

    2016+ Wrangler 4 door

FJ Cruiser (my idea- she think's they're sick and wants one but they aren't practical. We don't have kids yet though so I'm like now or never, why not?)

Any other ideas or recommendations? She doesn't want a car or SUV with Unibody. She wants something that sits high and likes how body on frame vehicles feel.

I think the vehicles you listed are all great options, I’d drive all of those in a heartbeat if I couldn’t have a Tacoma. Except the FJ Cruiser…I’ve heard horrible things about their reliability, never driven one though.

Just a thought, you may want to look at buying new because it very well could be cheaper. I wanted a used truck initially but it was far less expensive to buy a new one.

Supply and demand, yada yada, you know…

Want her to be really happy? Whatever you buy, buy new. In the cost range you can afford. Do a little research then take her to look at new models.

GX. Wrangler soccer vans are boring.

There's a reason why the FJ is cool and yet not popular. Horrible side and rear visibility, quirky maintenance, accessing the rear seats isn't the easiest in the world, and most model years aren't happy unless they're drinking high octane. But then again, the cool factor goes a long way. :cookiemonster:

1st gen LX. Once you pay market price for any of those other used SUVs. Wht not?

We bought a 2008 FJ with 260k for my wife recently. 4wd, locking rear. Our driveway is 1/2 mile of what some people might call wheeling, but it’s normal for us. Her last car was a Kia Forte and she couldn’t make it up it. Much more practical to fit stuff in including our baby. Wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. Can beat the dog shit out of it compared to the Kia obviously. Got it for 13k so if I have to throw an engine or tranny in it big deal. It’ll keep going as long as we want it to. That truck is a gem and it’s a shame it was born at the wrong time.

Edit make that a 2nd gen LX. 1st gen will be even harder to find. I forgot the LX went that far back.
