I had the issue, mentioned it and got it fixed. They installed some felt or something. Seems to have worked.

Do you have a photo or diagram of the window track and washer location? Thanks

This looks like one of the newer threads on this issue and I wanted to report back to report I tried the "foam fix" behind corner trim piece over the weekend and it worked.

In my case I used some really flimsy soft gray foam that came with the window a/c units to seal the space when the window is up. The small triangular-shaped plastic trim piece pulled off with a gentle tug. I cut one one very thin (width) piece of the foam about the length of my little finger and worked it under the edge of the weather-strip. It was concealed completely behind the weatherstrip, so I worked in another strip. Only glitch was one of the tiny white clips that hold the plastic trim piece in place had lost one of its two tiny ear tabs, so of course it disappeared into the door as soon as I touched it. I successfully removed the other two, but you have to take your time, look at them first and then gently work them out with the two ear tabs. I think next time I might try putting a piece of clear sticky tape over them and pull them out with/using the tape. I put them back on the tabs of the plastic trim piece, gently pressed it in place and went for a drive. (Note: To be honest here, I would have left them in the door and lost them forever when I re-installed it if I hadn't seen the warning here. Thanks!!)

    >>Problem fixed!<<

No rattles anymore now regardless of how I adjust the window: cracked, partial down at any spot, or all the way down (in both directions). This window would almost constantly rattle on almost any road surface: good or bad. It was extremely aggravating for me because 1: I hate ANY rattle in a vehicle, and 2: I do the majority of my driving with the windows down at least a little, even in the winter. In summer they are down more than I use the a/c which is usually when I have passengers. It took me about 15 minutes to cure this issue and most of that time was coaxing the little clips out of the door. To put things in perspective regarding how long this issue had plagued Tacoma's: My son has a 2005 Access Cab: both front windows have the same rattle. Doesn't bother him though.

wish i would have known about removing the clips on the triangle panel before snapping it back in when i swapped speakers, sent all 3 into the door frame no clue where they ended up haha. ill have to try out that foam trick, i installed new speakers and powered them with an amp, they bump, used about 8 sqft of dynamat and the only thing rattling on me is the window when open

Re: fix: In hindsite, if I had to do it over again, I probably would have used some double sided (thin) tape. All your trying to do is push the rubber window channel tighter against the glass, and the double-sided tape would do that and not move. If I had known what those clips looked like before I started, I definitely would have use the tape and before I ever did it again, I would try and pick up a handful of those clips. A little ball of that black 3M body sealer/filler putty would also hold that plastic trim piece on the door no problem.

I have the same issue with my driver window partially down. Ive taken the door panel off and checked for loose bolts on the window regulator. Everything is solid. Sound deadening material applied everywhere. Ill try the foam trick on the seals.

Pretty normal, my 2001 tundra always did it. Even my 2020 will do it if a roll the windows down just to a point. The rattle noise on my tundra could get objectionable, this tacoma not so much. its really nit picking.

Would you happen to have the part number for them? (plastic trim panel clips). I have been searching for them for two days. I have to do the passenger door.

I also fixed my 2020 SR5 DC drivers door window rattle when partially down in less than 5 minutes using this technique. No tools necessary, just a pair of scissors to cut some foam mounting tape. Thanks for the easy fix from the previous posters.

From inside the truck just grab and pull off the forward triangular window panel held by 3 white clips. Important...remove the white clips from the door side and re-install them on the panel you just pulled off. Cut a couple of 2" x 1/2" inch wide foam mounting strips and double them up. Push those now 1" long double thick strips into the space between the rubber window molding and the metal door backing which then puts more outward pressure against the glass eliminating the rattle.

Simply push the triangular panel back in place. All done and no more rattle. The fix is invisible after the panel is back in place.
