Do you know if this was fixed on successive years, or if it might still be an issue on 2020 +?

    *EDIT*
Just did a safety/recall lookup on my VIN and it came back clear.

It did not and still does not show up for my 2018 on the recall list. I took it in for the fuel pump recall and then the service manager said we did your fuel pump recall and your rear brake light recall as well. I did not know there was a recall and had not had problems with the brake light. I don't think they are advertising it, but he did say it was a recall and there was no charge. I don't know about 2020 models. I don't think it is an issue any more.

I just bought a 2017 TRD OR DCLB with 88k on it and it's totally fine. Definitely looking into a tune though. Man that transmission seems confused. I'm a classic car mechanic by trade so originally I wanted a manual. The majority of my Toyota 4x4's have been manuals, as well as every car I have ever owned. Test drove one last summer and it just didn't seem a good combo. Drove this one with an auto and it definitely seems like a better pairing but after driving it a week man that transmission is confused. Coming from NICE built 2011 4Runner trail and 16 other Toyota 4x4's before that one. So this is 18 total for me.
