Aloha from Honolulu! I have had my Tacoma since 2005. I have been considering upgrading to a new one, really upgrading and going with a 22 Tundra or more recently considered overhauling/ rebuilding the engine instead of getting new truck payment plus getting some bodywork and repainting... Open to thoughts and considerations. I have over 251K miles on my truck now and love it. While I would love new and shiny, I am also an old soul and love my truck... I not very mechanically inclined (I do more woodwork than wrenching).

While normally I'm cheap, I always think older folks, only you can determine if your in that category, should buy a nicer vehicle to drive. Only live so long, and that can often make your life a heck of a lot easier. I'd vote buy a newer truck rather than revamp the old one. Are you going to gain any resale value by revamping probably not, and insurance is gonna have the same value. As long as you can afford it comfortably, why not?
