I've tried to scour the internet for help installing the wiring for my new Century canopy. It came with a wiring kit with 6-plug connector that plugs into the canopy fuse box, mounted on the driver's side rear post of the canopy.

Canopy installer isn't licensed to touch Toyoty (I suspect a CDN thing) so I got the kit, a.k.a. "Fuse Box Harness Kit (TAG Item # 139280)". The paper instructions that came in with the harness are not really a lot of use. Other than giving me the necessary pin-out for the 6-PDS Male connector, it doesn't really say anything about wiring it up.

I've read a fair bit and watched several on-line videos of people fishing a wire to the driver's tail-light to get the brake wiring, but I still have two questions:

    1. What is the preferred "best practices" method for tapping into the brake wiring? Is it via the brake light, or better to go down to the trailer harness? I know the brake light is protected from elements better than the trailer harness, but really do want to follow best practices tapping into the factory wiring for the third brake light.

    2. What is the best place to grab 12V for the canopy's interior light?

    Thanks in advance.
