2.7l on 1ton axles ?

I’ve got it 08 2.7 L extended cab with 529 gears and 37inch km3 I’m doing a solid axle swap this summer and I’m going to run 40s I have a clapped out 08 f250 I can take the axles from but is their a gear high enough that I can keep my engine!!! Alternative is buying a front axle and putting shafts in both? Has it been done ?

 

If you don’t even know the gear ratios available to swap in your donor axles I’m having a tough time believing you’ll actually perform the swap. 5.38 seems to be a number that comes to mind as the tallest gear for the Dana 60s but there might be lower ratios.

 

Super duty dana 60 front and sterling in rear... deepest gear you can get/buy is 5.38. But from the factory they won't be close at all.... 4.10 being the closest option but a rare find.

i just put 5.29 gears in it last year and I’m turning 37s no problem i want to run 40s with the 4 banger not sure the off set from factory combo but that sounds right and your saying the 08f250 gas truck has a sterling rear axle?

 

the dually have Dana 80s and the SRW are sterling 10.5

Ok awesome last one how would I figure the ring gear size ? From what I can find it’s a 10.5

 

Yea its a 10.5" ring gear in the sterling .... you can see if the ratio for the gears is on the vin tag in the door jam, or on a stamped plate on the axle, or you take the cover off and Count the number of teeth on the ring gear and the pinion. Divide the number of the ring gear's teeth by the number of the pinion's teeth. This will give you the axle ratio.
